This grand house is not far from Bakewell. It is set in acres of land with little sheep/lambs roaing around the estate. The inside of the house is also very interesting and its easy to see why this house was used for many film sets.If you dont have time to visiyt many historical buildings then this should be your first choice.Absolutely lovely.

The gardens are fantastic and well worth spending time walking round. The whole estate is really impressive, we didn't go in the house but bring your wallet.

A wonderful house full of amazing artefacts, paintings and furniture. Very helpful and friendly staff. Some rooms were were very full but it was a Sunday. Loved the modern art that was in amongst everything. Lovely grounds, got lost in the maze.

We had promised ourselves a return to Chatsworth which we and our friends last visited 49 years ago and we were not disappointed. We booked online and saved the car park fee. The house is stunning and make sure you get on the garden tour as it is fascinating. We stayed at the Devenshire Arms in the estate and found... More

Because of the expensive all-in entrance (£20 per person) we visited only the gardens (£12). Even only the garden was an amazing place to spend the whole afternoon! The gardens are extremely beautiful and full of interesting things to see and do (including a maze which took us a while to pass through!).

The gardens are beautiful and the house is very interesting. The current collection of modern art inside the house is a little odd inside the house. My only criticism is the price for entry which at £20 per adult is a little high - for example Edinburgh Castle is only £15 each and has much more to see.

Loved the gardens, loads of room to walk about without bumping into others. House is beautiful, but dont do what some people did and not look at everything, or you'll miss so much, like the wall of tiles. Some guy said what a load of rubbish as he walked past it, but when you read the details about what it... More

Spent several hours here walking the dogs and overseeing the gardens. The Maze is amazing!! the rock gardens awesome. The Kitchen gardens are great. The views when you get to the Pump station overlooking the house and the grounds are stunning. Food and drink are very expensive but a lot of families took their own picnics. Many people were sat... We visited here with our kids. We enjoyed the house which also featured a MYC seating exhibition. The gardens are very impressive. Make sure you visit the maze, quite hard, and the fountain, the waterfall and rock garden. Wasn't too impressed with the restaurant which is fairly pricey and not that great. Rubbish selection of sandwiches. If we visited again... More

Worth checking out prices before you go as they are pretty steep. "Basic" all-in price for house and grounds is £20 per adult, but you can happily spend 3-4 hours, maybe more. The grounds (by Capability Brown) are great, with lots of paths across the hillside and interesting grottoes, kitchen gardens and woodlands. The house is magnificent. The restaurants and... More
