Excellent castle. Very well cared for. Lots of events through the summer and a cafe with lovely food that you can go to without having to go in the castle grounds if you are not an English heritage member. As the entry to the grounds is quite steep but well worth it. The views over derbyshire are stunning.

I love this place, it's been one of my favourites for years. We have visited on numerous occasions and it never fails to impress us. We love it so much we chose it as the venue for our wedding using the Star Chamber for the ceremony. Newly opened this year, the wall walk has been refurbished and allows visitors to... More

The castle walls walk has now been restored and the views from the ramparts over Carr Vale to the motorway are stunning. Friendly staff in the café and the store. The only downside is the price - I would go more often as I live locally I the prices were reduced. My grandson loved it all.

Bolsover castle is one of Derbyshire's true historic sites. It sits proudly on a hill and can be seen from miles. It hosts the main castle and the coach houses. You can view the many rooms within the castle and also in the coach house. Bolsover hosts many events through the year from medieval days to firework displays etc. It... More

The views are breathtaking and the children's events are fun and educational. It's good for children as there is plenty of outdoor space to run around. Educational day out and fun!

Very helpful and well-informed staff, superb guide who took us on a fascinating walking tour. The reception staff were warm and friendly so much so that we joined English Heritage on the day of our visit. Excellent cafe. The castle itself is extensive with reasonable access to most areas. There are explanatory displays and exhibitions though the film show wasn't... More

The "official" car park is a little small, but there are plenty of bigger parking areas nearby. Nice and clean - great for the kids to explore, with fantastic views over the M1 valley towards Sutton Scarsdale Hall and Chesterfield in the distance. The Café is a little expensive, but aren't they all. There's a "chain pub" next door -... More

One of my favourite spots in the area. Ok it's rather chilly on a breezy day, and let's not mention driving rain...due to the height of it's location. But the views are breathtaking and the children's events are fun and educational. It's good for children who are not keen on being inside as there is tons of outdoor spaces to... More

I enjoyed looking around, however the cost of going in outweighs the attraction sadly. If this was cheaper I would spend a lot of time here.
