Beautiful and peaceful garden

Our visit was in early October and the colours were superb. It would be wonderful in spring or summer and there is a good pub for lunch nearby

Compared with our last visit many years ago, it looks rather depressed, and not just that it was an October visit. Marvellous planned garden on a steep slope with great statues and rich lawns Good selection of plants and bushes including quince trees. Attractive position by the river - but accessed by a very narrow road. Self service coffee and... More

Dear DolphinDorset, Thanks for your comments. I'm sorry that you found the garden looking a little 'depressed', but I'm glad that you enjoyed your visit enough to give us a rating of 4/5. Accepting your comment about it being October, you will be interested to know that we are in year four of a multi-year historic replanting programme at the... More

Tried to go here throughout August and finally got a day towards the end. You need good weather; there are only one or two places to shelter. You also need an afternoon as it's only open then. That said, this garden is well worth a visit in its own right, rather than just an adjunct to Bradford-on-Avon and/or Bath. It's... More

Thanks so much for your review - I'm really glad you enjoyed your visit and hope you will come back and see us again some day, either for the garden itself, or for one of our concerts, promenades or operas over the summer months. More

A wonderful place that fills an afternoon or just have a cup of tea and cake! Very atmospheric and romantic- you must go there! Nb the approach from DOWN the hill is quite narrow. They also have great musical events.

Thanks for your kind words. Yes, you are right about the roads here, but we hope that the magic of the bridge appearing as you arrive at the bottom makes up for the voyage of discovery to get here! Hope to see you again here soon. William Iford Manor More

This is a must see in the area. Iford Manor embodies what fairy tales are made of. This garden is stunning, very beautifully kept in its former glory by an amazing team. Steeped in its Victorian heritage, a walkthrough affords a fantastic step back in time to another century. The layout reminds me of the architectural follies typical of the... More

Excellent gardens and scenery buried deep in a hollow. Delightful cafe/tea room and fine statuary and architecture to dwell on. A trip into the past and well worth a visit.

this garden is in a beautiful part of the world, walk there if you can and enjoy the miles of footpaths with views over the surrounding fields. The garden themselves are small but charming with beautiful stonework and statuary. Very friendly welcome from the fellow who took the money and the housekeeper who made the delicious fruit cake we enjoyed... More

Thanks gwatters, for your review. I'm really glad you enjoyed your visit and I hope you will come back in the early summer when the wisteria is out, so you can see the garden at the other end of the year. (I've passed on your compliments to the team). Best regards, William Iford Manor More

Very much worth the 2 mile walk from the Avoncliff aquaduct. We had some friendly directions to find the manor. Once there we were lucky to meet the owner/ occupier and had a very nice chat about his garden and the cherry trees in particular. Wonderfully set out guarded which was great to be able to walk around. One of... More
