We came here for my partner's 65th birthday, on the recommendation of friends. We both enjoy taking photographs, and there is much here among the architecture and statuary to catch the eye and the lens. It;s delightfully laid out, and the steep terraces are all linked by steps, which posed no problems to my partner, who sometimes has problems with... More

I went last Saturday on a Girls Day out (well, afternoon) purchased through Groupon. Iford Manor opens at 2.00 and shuts around 5.00, but they're very flexible about closing. The grounds are lovely and the afternoon tea is to die for with a very wide range of refreshemtns available. You are allowed to take dogs too. All in all, a... More

My husband and I have often passed by Iford Manor and decided to visit on a Saturday afternoon in August to walk off our lunch. Plenty of parking in the car park opposite the grounds/manor. The Manor house was not open on this occasion but wasn't our main reason for the visit. We enjoyed a leisurely walk around the gardens/grounds... More

A fabulous place to visit .... To walk around the gardens, listen to the wonderful music wafting from the cloisters and a delicious afternoon tea with friends.... this time courtesy of a Groupon voucher. An absolute treat. Have visited several times and it won't be the last. Thank you.

Down in a valley, idyllically placed by the river. I would recommend visiting it when the wisteria is out. Last year I visited at that time but I was too late this year. The road down is long, steep and narrow and I think that another time I would park some distance away and make it into an afternoon's walk.

We had been to Iford Manor a long time ago and decided to visit again today as the weather was favourable. The approach road is long and narrow and you keep doubting you are on the right track!! However when you arrive the gardens are beautiful and you can see how Peto was influenced by the gardens of Italy. The... More

Thank you for your kind words about the garden - it's an exciting time with the three year border restoration project - Harold Peto's restored rose garden going in this month, and the terrace borders. Sorry to hear you were short on tea leaves - that's unusual, so I've retrained and re-labelled the pots. We use leaf tea because it's... More

Not sure I would go too far out of my way to visit Ilford Manor but if you are doing the 2 Valleys Walk from Avoncliff or Freshford then this is a lovely place to visit on route. The garden is beautiful with the wisteria out - there is a lot of wisteria there! And the whole place is beautifully... More

The location is beautiful, as is the garden, even on a wet Sunday! The welcome from the lady at the entrance was less than welcoming however. We were there on a 'groupon' deal and she insisted on more details than we had. Had to try getting online and in the valley this was very slow! We had a cream tea... More

Found Iford Manor via Groupon, which without it I would of never known about this place. It does seem like its in the back of beyond in the deepest countryside but the setting is lovely. The garden may be smaller than other places, but it carries alot of history and I will definitely go back in the summer when the... More

This garden is one of the gems of the West Country, situated just a few miles outside of the classic city of Bath. It is not to be missed! It is a garden that is guaranteed to enchant you. We visit several times every year. It was designed and created by the legendary Harold Peto and has now been lovingly... More
