It was on the strength of this attraction that we became members of the National Trust. The estate's feature is the gardens which are magnificent. The house is of interest too but the gardens are the real draw card. I have been several times and on one occasion with a friend awaiting a hip replacement and the staff were superb... More

Stourhead is a NT village and we visit quite often as it's not far from where we live, it beautiful what ever the time of year to walk around the gardens and in the autumn the colours are stunning, it's great for everyone, and lovely for having picnic there also a house which you can go round from March to... The gardens here are simply breathtaking. It's a job to know where to look as each corner you turn another enchanting view appears. I just wish I could be going towards the end of April as I imagine the gardens will be even better.

The gardens are magnificent especially in the spring sunshine. Indeed the view from the Apollo temple has made it into Simon Jenkin's top 100 views. The grotto is enchanting and the house was brought to life by taking us through the quite tragic history of the last residents. Will definitely visit again later in the year, when the gardens will... Beware dog owners who visit Stourhead. We took the beautiful Park Hill Camp walk which is about 3 miles over some steep inclines. Our walk was hampered by the lack of clear red way markers at the latter stages and an estate map that was too small and didn't contain enough detail to follow. This meant we went seriously 'off... I was taken to Stourhead for the first time today by a friend who is a National Trust member. There was no discount for me as a guest, which seemed surprising and £8.80 just to walk round the lake seemed very over priced. It's all got so commercial. Without saying why the woman at the till asked my name and... More

What a great location for a walk with the dog and some lunch at the pub! Thoroughly enjoyed the gardens and the house and topped it off with a spot of lunch in the pub which was superb.

A fabulous Georgian garden which is probably the best example of landscaping from this period. Well worth a visit.

What a beautiful place. The setting is just breathtaking and for anyone with an interest in trees and plants this place is a must see. Wonderful for children as there is so much to see and explore. Add in a pub and ice cream parlour and everyone is happy.

House and grounds to explore, mini bus to transport visitors with mobility issues from the entrance down the steep hill. Grounds is suitable for walkers/families/wheelchair users/sticks & crutches. The grounds have a swirling path around the trees (very up and down and not flat on foot). Trees are a tremendous feature (more so in the autumn with the colourful leaves).... More
