We tend to visit Stourhead twice a year on route to Devon. There are some lovely lakeside and parkland walks and the vista across the lake to the temple is lovely. Best times to visit are May when the Rhodes and azaleas are blooming or October when the colours of the acres are superb. There is a good cafe, some... More

The gardens are lovely, particularly the walk round the lake and especially after December 1 when dogs on leads are allowed at any time - though they are allowed in after 4pm the rest of the year - too late if you live any distance away. It can be very busy in good weather at peak times - e.g. the... More

This is a must see visit for the National Trust house and gardens. The grounds are extensive with a wide variety of trees and plants. Car parks may be packed, but they have plenty of space to park. Walking round is always relaxing and enjoyable. The restaurant provides good food, but finding seats could be difficult, especially in the busy... More

This is an extremely lovely place to go. Make sure you take a camera. Ever changing seasons make this a venue to keep on returning to, especially if plants are your thing.

A great walk all year round. Also a beautiful house to view. Always check the National trust website for the opening times as the house can be closed in winter. We always pop in if we are in the area for a walk around the grounds. Definitely worth a visit.

A crisp cold day added to the atmosphere at Stourhead. Beautiful decorated rooms all traditionally put together. Although all the rooms are not open in December because of cleaning and renovation it is a fabulous day out. As you enter the house a huge log fire welcomes you. The staff are extremely knowledgable , friendly and have big smiles on... More

Even in November the grounds were just beautiful. Around every corner was another lovely view. It was so easy to walk around, must come back at another time of year.

There is easy parking across the road from the House. The farm shop, well appointed modern cafe and shop are here too. There is also a mini bus service to the House though the guides didn't tell us. Today was the first day of the Christmas decorations and these were beautifully executed. We have often visited Waddesdon Manor for the... More
