went round the gardnes fanstatic love the grottos and setting the house is nice to well worth a visit
One of the best gardens and overall days out in a long time, The extensive grounds are full of magnificent views and the site of many film scenes. Plenty of walking to explore the whole site, well worth the trip. House is modest compared to the Gardens. Another visit is on the cards very soon as the spring flowers develop.
Went here on the bank holiday Saturday and it was heaving ! However the queue was short and quick so no hassle at all . Took the courtesy bus to the house which was very useful for one of our party , in fact we used it a few times. The grounds are spectacular even after a battering in this... More
This was a return visit but this time to spend more time here. The National Trust don't have any bad places but this is a particular gem. Beautiful and well manicured gardens and buildings which are being restored for future generations to enjoy.A must to visit at least once in a lifetime. We combined the visit with a stay at the... It was on the strength of this attraction that we became members of the National Trust. The estate's feature is the gardens which are magnificent. The house is of interest too but the gardens are the real draw card. I have been several times and on one occasion with a friend awaiting a hip replacement and the staff were superb... More

The gardens here are simply breathtaking. It's a job to know where to look as each corner you turn another enchanting view appears. I just wish I could be going towards the end of April as I imagine the gardens will be even better.
The gardens are magnificent especially in the spring sunshine. Indeed the view from the Apollo temple has made it into Simon Jenkin's top 100 views. The grotto is enchanting and the house was brought to life by taking us through the quite tragic history of the last residents. Will definitely visit again later in the year, when the gardens will... Beware dog owners who visit Stourhead. We took the beautiful Park Hill Camp walk which is about 3 miles over some steep inclines. Our walk was hampered by the lack of clear red way markers at the latter stages and an estate map that was too small and didn't contain enough detail to follow. This meant we went seriously 'off... What a great location for a walk with the dog and some lunch at the pub! Thoroughly enjoyed the gardens and the house and topped it off with a spot of lunch in the pub which was superb.
