A beautiful place to wander round any time of year. Easy walkable paths with plenty of places to sit and ponder life by, have a rest or even enjoy a picnic. A photographers dream (so you will see plenty of them!) Both at the top by the main car park and at the bottom of the hill are places to... More

Forget the mist, there was none of that today, but some stunning colours and beautiful gardens. This is a beautiful country park with some fantastic walks for all ages. The lake is full of ducks, swans, Canada Geese and if you look very carefully other creatures. The walk around the lake is easy going and if you are not particularly... More

Stourhead is stunning! A superb collection of trees planted around a couple of lakes, dotted with temples, a palladian bridge, a grotto, a gothic cottage and a cascade. From any point around the main lake there is an exquisite vista - it is a photographer's dream. We visited in autumn, so the colours were stunning. However, I can imagine that... More

Stourhead is a National Trust property and is one of my favourite places to escape to at any time of year. The lake is always wonderful to photograph including the lovely plants and trees located around it. At the moment October, not all the trees have turned golden yet, so if you want to photograph leave it another couple of... More

Having just been to Montacute House and rated that so very highly I was delighted to find Stourhead was even better! This really is a very high class estate. Where to start? Well, I started in the ‘Georgian’ house, which though not as big and impressive as Montacute, still has lots to offer. The whole house is adorned with paintings... More

The Stourhead gardens are delightful at any time of the year for adults and children alike. There is something to find and enjoy as you meander around the lake and the grottos are fun and inviting. Each temple, grotto etc looks across to another and the backdrop of trees, especially in autumn is spactualar. The paths are well maintained and... More

History you can touch. This location has captured some of the greatness of the ages and have brought it together on a on the rolling hills of a stately manor. Buildings and statues so exquisitely presented and situated amongst the beauty of Mother Nature. I equate it with a 'garden of Eden' of thought of the great society's of our... More

Unlike many NT properties the main attraction of Stourhead is gardens (parkland would be more appropriate) rather than the house, that said the house is very nice and certainly worth a visit. The gardens are in a valley set around man made lakes with mature woodland and a number of 'follies' buildings that makes the experience more interesting. There is... More

A wonderful park to be experienced if you are nearby! However: Steer clear of the cafe, the food there is not good.
