The new market may be clean and warm with piped music in the toilets and with an array of independant traders, however if you are claustrophobic,or looking for a traditional market experience then it isn't for you. In my opinion the market is cramped, the stalls are too uniform in design and layout, you can not see 'across' the market... More

The market trades 6 days a week & has a decent little cafe. There are stalls to please all tastes - I especially liked the local meats sold as burgers (I had a Herdwick hogget burger for lunch) & sausages at very reasonable prices, the local veg & other produce (Welsh cakes) - and inside was a cooking demo and... There is bits of everything in the market, things that you expected like fresh bread, ham and jams and things you didnt like old records for sale.My wife bought a second hand gold locket and chain from a very interesting jeweller,we spent to save as the jewellery was quality and of course no vat.by the time we left we had eaten in... This is as much a comment about the town as it is the market which itself has an interesting variety of stalls and is really well integrated into the town, a really good shopping centre. It all flows well and everything is easily accessible. As well as the usual multinational stores there are independent retailers including those in the market... More

Anyone who is tired of boring multinational companies should visit Carmarthen Market in order to restore their jaded palettes. Superb, home-produced food at low prices. The best ham you will ever, ever taste. Honey, cakes, jams, pies, cheese, bacon and much more. Also interesting crafts and antiques and a friendly shop selling Welsh books, crafts and music.Lovely fishmonger who sometimes... More

This review is for the stalls, not the building itself (the old one was much better). Some interesting stalls selling a wide variety of goods and services. Great cheese shop as you walk in the main entrance, Albert Rees the home of the famous Carmarthen Ham (as seen on numerous TV shows). Antique shops, watch repairs, computer repairs, pet food,... Like the new style market, but it lacks the atmosphere of the old one. However the cheese stall is great, cheeseman is very helpful with samples etc and the gin made by his in laws is worth visiting the market for!

It is a small indore market selling usual stuff - food, pet stuff etc however if you have been to the Cardiff market this is half the size and even on market day not much to see. If your in the area pop in don't go there for it.

Its not the biggest market around and it's not exactly a 'Farmer Market' but with plenty of speciality stalls and surrounded by bigger shops such as Debenhams, Marks and Spencers, River Island etc. its still worth a day trip for shopping. The area is well kept, clean and generally a nice place to walk around. Loads of shops in a... More
