Excellently preserved castles with a basic but friendly shop can ticket office. No refreshment facilities but plenty of tea rooms a short walk away. Limited parking close by with a couple of disabled bays but plenty of free parking not far away.

A good quantity of ruins for this castle still within its walls. Lots of places to see, as another person says, without being mollycoddled with health and safety too much. What can be seen is fascinating - thick walls with the shadows of different roofs, changes to windows, rooms half built into the walls with old bits of stone where... More

A good place to visit though the town has little else... The castle is large enough to occupy a few hours with a good selection of information boards Excellent access to towers and ramparts with good views over the countryside... Not many parking spaces... Nice little walk down to the river......... A pleasant way to spend an afternoon as an... More

Having visited Pembroke Castle last year (which is huge) I certainly wasn't expecting much from Kidwelly. How wrong I was. This is absolutely fascinating and we walked around with a sense of awe and wonderment. Being just out of season we were just 2 of 6 people wandering around so had plenty of time to take things in and enjoy... More

6 of us visited Kidwelly ranging in age from 18 to 78. It was a magnificent day blotted only by the fact that we forgot our picnic and the local cafe was shut. The venue wasn't busy and we were allowed to take our dog in too. We loved the castle, the deer and the Kings throne in the high... More

We enjoy visiting castles but had somehow missed this one until now. Location did not appear very promising but it turned out to be a must see. It gave a very good impression of how dangerous life could have been in its heyday, it still appears very strong. After cracking head several times going into rooms under gatehouse there were... Well worth a visit. This castle is in such great condition considering it is around 800 years old. You get a real sense of what it was like to live in medeaval times. Great views from the castle walls. Small gift shop selling predictable goods.

I know that Wales is famous for its castles, but this one is definitely one of the best. A photographers delight with plenty of shots open to the imagination. Dont miss it otherwise you will regret it!

Great day out today with the family at Kidwelly castle. Great bit of history here with fantastic views. The structure and exposed foundation layout gives you a great insight to castle life. Definitely the best castle in Carmarthenshire.
