This might not be the biggest castle but there is plenty to see and explore. Part of the outer walls remain accessible to walk round with views over the town to the river estuary. There are also a couple of towers for children to explore. There is a small car park close to the castle with a short walk into... More

Really enjoyed Kidwelly Castle, somewhere to visit when the sun is shining though. It was dilapidated enough to give it the ruined and historic feeling but in tact enough that you could still imagine what is must have been like in its full glory. There are walls to climb on and towers to ascend. Fantastic view from the top too.... More

This is a proper castle, really interesting and would keep children occupied for over an hour. There's a house opposite for ceramic antiques lovers and a great cafe down the road, all within walking distance of the beach.

Nice to see inside the castle, fun event on a sunny day, great for photos. There is a charge to visit, think it was £4 for adults. They sometimes have open days - which is when the castle is free to enter so its well worth looking up on the internet to see when these are if a few of... More

Great castle which is fairly well preserved. Lots of information available and the castle will appeal to both adults and children. You can walk the castle walls and go in the tower and dungeons and part of the moat. The entrance charges are reasonable and well worth it.

Very interesting but a little expensive. Definately for older children as some of the steps are very narrow and it can be a little tricky.

First impressions, I thought we could kill an hour of time rambling over a few ruins. We actually spent a whole morning exploring the whole castle including dungeons, battlements and a turret! There was enough information to grip the childrens imaginations and to really get a feel for how the castle would have been without loosing your enthusiasm. When back... More

Really share others' opinions of this - absolutely amazed at how much is still standing, even though it seems there is some degree of confusion about what things may have been - not very many information boards about as far as we could see. That said, it is a fascinating place with lots of little passages to follow that then... More
