Kidwelly is a nice little place with quite an impressive castle. The castle stands on a small bluff above the Gwendraeth river. Its complex of towers and ramparts is interesting to explore and the higher towers offer views of the surrounding landscape, including the deserted brick chimneys of bygone industries.

what a great castle! Lots to see, with towers, battlements and dungeons. They even had re-enact ours there displaying weapons and authentic clothing of the time. All this set in the great town of Kidwelly

We visited Kidwelly Castle with friends, very reasonably priced and very well preserved. There are a lot of areas to explore and most of the castle is accessible. There was an archery display while we were there, where we also learned about some tactics of battle. There are good views across the town, note that is can be windy when... More

Great place reasonably priced castle , lots of rooms basement rooms and towers to explore very tight stair cases great for kids and adults to explore will need to be careful on stairs but that goes without saying, not much is restricted access , which sets this apart from other attractions.we visited on a bank holiday weekend they had archery... We visited finally and were amazed at how well preserved the castle is. Great day out especially with the kids and the views around the area are great from the castle walls and towers.

Didn't know about this castle until I saw it marked on a road map. Decided to stop on way between St David's and Swansea. Its a little gem. The castle shows the later development of castles with inner and outer baileys and a great variety of tower types. Lots of stairs to go up and down so would appeal to... More

Quite and interesting castle to look around and very well preserved. However there were no placards to give more information about it. My experience would have been greatly improved if there had been more handrails around the site, particularly at the steps shown in pictures 31-35 - the existing rail does not extend to the bottom of the steps, and... Wow, what a surprise, we didn't know of this castle. Quite a lot to see, even from a wheelchair. Facilities are good but not over commercialised. What an area for castles and Welsh history. We had only a two day break but will go back to see more.
