Our family stopped off by chance the other day and were amazed by the amount of well kept & educational items. From stone age to the 80's, natural history to art gallery, there is content for everyone and it is all free. Must see if you are in the area and take a picnic in the well kept gardens afterwards.

This museum is located in the old bishop's palace in Abergwili just outside Carmarthen. Has an interesting range of displays which can be viewed in about 1 hour or less. We especially wanted to see the Nelson windows from Paxton's Tower, the staff were very helpful.

Visited this museum to do some research but stayed longer than intended. The staff were so helpful and informed. The collections are many and varied but the Victorian schoolroom and recreated Welsh cottage were inspiring a group of schoolchildren as we visited. The garden was a perfect place to have coffee and go for a walk afterwards. Good to see... More

The interior of the old bishop's palace is magnificent, and the objects displayed cover from prehistory to the present. If the weather is at all nice, don't ignore the grounds - a beautiful walk by the river, and an interesting arboretum. My own personal favourite here is the private chapel.

We "accidentally" stumbled upon this Museum whilst on holiday. Whilst it doesn't look much from the outside, you will not be disappointed with what you find inside. A FREE to enter museum full of varied and wonderful artifacts from Welsh history, impossible to take in on just one visit. We recommended the Museum to my parents who were equally impressed... More

We've visited a couple of times (with a young grandchild) and there is something for everyone. She loved the stuffed animals/ecology & we liked the Welsh dressers/costume/embroideries, etc. All of us loved the Bishop's chapel. A really good introduction to museums for young children, as it is quite small, and will have things to catch their interest - and won't... More

This museum surprised us. It is small but as it is housed in the old bishops palace, the architecture is interesting. There is an area that is the old chapel, with leaded windows and original pews. The museum contains a good mix covering social history, including the mines, and the Rebeckahs: farmers and others who objected to the tolls on... More
