Not the greatest of castles that the region has to offer but well worth popping in if you are around Carmarthen. The remains are quite small so has not left them much to do with. There are some great views on offer of the Towy and town, and of course plenty of great information about the area through history.

Not much of a castle really, as it has council offices and a car park in the middle of it, the lady in the tourist office was very helpful. The information around the bits that are left are very informative, but it does not take you long to get round.

We visited both Carmathen and Cardiff castle and found that Carmathen was much better. Free guided tour by Martyn was a bonus. Would recommend this castle and carreg cennan castle if you are in the area.

There's not a great deal left to see - most of the impressive site was taken over by a massive council building. It seems that across Wales, Council offices (Cardiff, Carmarthen, Ceredigion, Swansea etc., etc.) are placed to give staff lovely views out of their office windows...

Good to visit and free. Takes about 1/2hr-1 hour to see it all. Ideal for little ones as they are able to run round and touch things. Inside shows police cells complete with dummy's dressed up.

Popped in after a business meeting. Did the whole tour in 10 minutes, there's very little left of the castle and if your expecting a beautiful classic Welsh castle you will be very disappointed. That said its free and there are free guided tours
