Partial castle remains

Small museum room plus remaining castle walls. Not a lot to see, quick visit whilst walking around Carmarthen Town.

Just off the high street. It is quite interesting especially how the town has quite literally surrounded it. Lovely views from part of the wall. Lots of it is just remains and rubble. Don't travel just to see it but if in the area worth a visit.

Carmarthen Castle probably isn't the type of place you'd visit just for the sake of it, but as a glimpse into the history of this County town it is not to be missed, the interactive 'personalised' info points create interest for old and young alike and the remaining battlements reveal views across the Towy.

What can I say. It's bigger than when I was a kid. That is they have exposed a little bit more. I hope the council aren't using it as a selling point for Carmarthen!

Hidden away at the top of the town, the ruins of Carmarthen Castle provide enough of a glimpse at what was once here, in an interesting way. There are a number of information panels with accompanying audio, plus several good viewpoints, that we particularly enjoyed. Well worth a look, especially as a free location!

Although ther is not much to see of the castle, we found it a fun place to visit. It's free & if you take the time to visit the tourist info office whilst you are there, there is a lovely lady willing to take time to explain about the castle & the police station. You can visit very old police... More

Set in the middle of the town you can wander round what is in effect the outside wall to the Town Hall. Impressive gate house and splendid views over the Tywi river and Carmarthen. Not worth a long journey to go and see but well worth a short visit if in Carmarthen

This is a free site in the centre of Carmarthen adjacent to Nott Square. There were some good interpretive boards but not too much else to commend. The sound units did not work and a high level walk had a large modern spiral staircase and a locked gate at the top barring access. But there were splendid views of the... More

Although an interesting castle there really isn't much of it left! If it weren't for being such a pleasant day then we would have been disappointed to make the trip. The visitor centre was lovely and the staff were welcoming, however, and the old prison cells were fascinating to be able to explore.
