Yes it's small, there's not a lot there, but it's free! And the staff member in the museum was extremely friendly and helpful. We visited with two small children and a dog and it was just right for their attention span. And the keep tower was a great place to have our sandwiches!

Not a huge amount to see, but it is worth a visit if you are in Carmarthen to see other things. Entrance is free and it affords some nice views of Carmarthen.

Castle would be a lot better if they did more with it/to it. It's not a day trip but rather half an hour of your lucky job. Very small and not a lot to see

There was unfortunately very little of the castle left to see. It is free too enter. Staff in the information shop were very pleasant and helpful. Shame that the Council Offices have been built in the old castle grounds.

The castle would have been a decent size when it was complete but it has long since been used as a jail and the county council offices in a late 19C building inside the curtain walls. There are some interesting features left, like the building inside the main gate off Nott Square, the towers and the views, but overall I... More

There is so little left that it is not worth making a trip to see. We live nearby & visit the town often. Our granddaughter likes to climb the spiral staircase up part of a tower - and there are good views from the castle plaza, but 10 minutes is all you need...

Visited the old jail with 6 pupils with special needs, the woman who worked there was excellent and put a DVD on for us to watch. I will take my grandchildren when they are older

I took refuge from a shopping expedition with the rest of the family by making a diversion to Carmarthen Castle one weekday morning on holiday. The gatehouse (pictured) is very imposing and attractive to a history buff like me. However, centuries of history and redevlopment have taken their toll so that the gatehouse and a short stretch of high, sturdy... More

Not alot there not worth visiting if you find it, as there is no signs pointing you in the direction.

Carmarthen town itself is worth a drop off with some nice shopping, pubs and restaurants and a medieval feel to some parts. The castle is really just one wall and not worth a detour.
