If you are a keen photographer then, Tally (NOT Talley!) and the surrounding areas is a must place to visit for anyone interested in history About a half hour journey by car from the country town of Llandeilo, this place is as peaceful as it is beautiful. I have attached two photographs of the Abbey plus one of the adjacent... More

Love the abbey, but it would be really nice to have more information available at the abbey itself - perhaps also a sketch of how it looked in its glory.

If you like your historical ruins to have atmosphere then Talley Abbey is a must visit. On an autumn day the lake ( that was the former fish pond for the monks ) could transport you Avalon. See Wikepedia for more information.

The only Premonstraterian Abbey in Wales. Just a ruin but pleasant, pretty site on a nice day; next to church and Talley Lakes [wildlife sanctuary]. Access by steps only. Small parking area by gate. King Richard allegedly stayed in a house nearby. Bring your own refreshments as nearest cafe 8 miles away! Public toilets nearby. Good off-road woodland walk on... More

Note it is called Talley Abbey (not Tally Abbey)! The site is open and charming. I like to sketch and paint and this was a perfect spot. There are no information boards, so if you want to know the history come prepared. We came on a Sunday morning as the the service in the next door church was ending. So... More

Tally Abbey like other Abbeys in Wales such as Strata Florida was originally sited for its isolation. Talley Abbey certainly maintains this. The ruins blend into the landscape and the church nearby retains the feel of historic continuity. Hedonists may disapprove; it is hard to get to and there are no facilities. This is a place to visit and to... More
