Description: The best sixty minutes of rib-tickling historic escapism you'll find in...
The best sixty minutes of rib-tickling historic escapism you'll find in Skipton. Our canal trip promises you a guided tour that's fun whatever the weather with the finest countryside views you can get without moving your feet. Your guide for the canal tour is award-winning comedian Dave Spikey of Phoenix Nights and 8 Out of 10 Cats fame. With his characteristic Northern patter, Dave takes you on a whistle-stop tour of Skipton and canal history that's refreshingly different to your average commentary. Above the jokes and laughter, you'll hear points of interest and fascinating stories of how the Leeds & Liverpool canal delivered the lifeblood of the industrial revolution through Yorkshire. There's food and drink on board too so it's a fun twist to your lunchtime break. Our lively canal trip proves you don't have to let planning or nasty weather get in the way of a good time. Our boat The Cobbydale sails at 10.45Am, 11:50am, 1:00pm, 2:10pm and 3:20pm. (The 10:45am trip runs in the high season, All trips run subject to demand).

My wife and I took my mum on this boat trip while in Skipton for the day, weather wasn't cracking but thought we'd give it a try for 1 hour..£8 each & £7.50 for mum (oap) seems a little bit on the steep side.? The commentary by Dave Spikey is quite amusing but it is a little hard to hear... More

As a fan of Dave Spikey, who I remember from appearing in dictionary corner on Countdown, I enjoyed his commentary. Admittedly there is not a lot to see during the cruise, but it is a pleasant way to spend an hour on a sunny day.

Took the one hour trip @£8 per person there is a half hour one for £4. There was a commentary done by dave spikey but could hardly hear it due to noisy passengers and only about 12 passengers on , it must be impossible to hear if a full boat, not much to see apart from a lot of rubbish... More

We went on the hour trip to get a taster and the comedians commentary by Dave Starkey was a little different. You don't see too much though as you have to turn round after 30 minutes to come back but still goes past all the old mills in Skipton and out into the open. Good choice of refreshments served on board... More

We booked on the morning for the afternoon trip. We arrived 15minutes early as requested on our ticket. Just after our arrival a coach trip turned up to get on the same boat as us. The boat was late arriving for us to board meaning we were stood in the rain for a long period of time , it took... More

The trip up the canal was pleasant and informative but in between commentary they played loud music that wasn't very pleasant. I'm not elderly either......the music just wasn't fitting for the trip. Otherwise a great trip and good value

We had an hour-long trip on the Leeds-Liverpool canal. The commentry was informative and humourous but rather spoiled by a couple who decided to talk over the commentry. Never mind. The cruise was enjoyable passing many old factories now turned into flats.

Lovely little trip on the canal. Friendly staff and informative commentary. Dave Spikey was quite funny on the commentary.
