This is one of my favorite trails with varied vegetation. It can be very muddy but beautiful. This last time we hiked it it was rather overgrown and muddy. We like to take the 9:30 shuttle and then hike all the way to DT Fleming Beach. The shuttle drivers have always been great, that is such a wonderful service to... More

This is what in my mind a real hike is hike. Not your typical paved trail-sidewalk-flat surface hike. Some parts are overgrown with brush, have steep ascents/descents, and slushy mud puddles. It's not like this all the way. You just have to be okay to expect them. Don't bring those brand new running shoes you bought to run on the... More

This is a great trail to walk or run and conveniently located nearby numerous resorts in Napili bay, Lahaina. One can find pineapples, passionfruit and guavas growing wild along the trail, bring a pocket knife for a small refreshment.

To be fair, I didn't finish this trail, and I set out to find it on my own because I didn't want to start at 9:30 AM by taking the shuttle. I asked the ladies in the village center at Kapalua (where we were staying) how to find the trail; they told me just to go down to D.T. Flemings... More

We enjoyed discovering this great trail. We left our resort at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua and easily found this trail for our morning run.

Bring your hiking shoes or sturdy tennis shoes as this is a rigorous hike through an amazing array of forest, hillside and rain forest. We chose to start at the bottom and make our way to the top. This took us 2 hrs and 10minutes. You have to plan ahead as you will need to catch the shuttle back down... More

Caught up in the spirit of adventure, we decided to try something different on our day off this past Monday. Rather than doing something necessary, like facing the mass of sample vendors at Costco or doing something fun, like watching the whales in the ocean from the warmth of the beach, we decided to hike a few trails over in... I loved the ride up through private estates. I loved the views, and that the hike isn't too difficult, and has a lot of shade. However, someone really needs to clean it up. It's overgrown and signs are neglected. Also, areas are closed off still due to more housing being built. This is a NW Maui jewel. Please clean it... More

Hard to find but worth it once you do find it. I will check in so you will know where it starts. If you miss the trail where the construction is just keep walking the cart path till you get to the restrooms. Once at the restrooms go to right into the woods. Once in the woods go left on... More

A great escape from the tourist lined streets of downtown Lahaina. Shuttles depart from the visitor's center and take you halfway up the mountain through very private residential communities. Fair ocean views and at times slippery but this is probably the closest you may get to the Puu Kukui peak. Worth it. Great for all ages!
