It helped that we had a great and informative guide, who made our walking tour through this lovely national park so very enjoyable. Fortunately the daily rain storms that affected most of our holiday held off on this morning.

We hiked the "Centinelas del rio Melodioso" trail down to "El Rocio" waterfalls and to "El Venado" natural pools where visitors can swim. We picked our guide, Alex, at the Topes de Collantes park office. All along the way he gave us lectures about plants (where coffee comes from..), wildlife (he showed us tocororos or agutis). He has a real... More

We hired a taxi to take us the long way through the mountains from Trinidad to Cienguegos. We got a real feel of the area..the plantations..the resorts..the villages..

We choose the one hour walk to the Vegas Grande, one of the numerous waterfalls in the area. They said we would about an hour to get to the waterfall... They aren't very good at estimating the time I guess. The trip down to the waterfall was very steep so we had to be very careful but damn! That walk... More

I purchased this trip prior to arriving in Varadero. Once I arrived, I spoke with a Nexus Tours representative who told me the duration of ride there. Thankfully, our tour also stopped off in some cultural hubs such as Cienfuegos and Trinidad before finally taking us to Topes. We stayed overnight at Hotel Los Helechos and continued to Topes the... Cuba is full of gorgeous National Parks that are nature preserves. They are under-promoted and have often been the most memorable part of my trips to Cuba. Anytime you visit Cuba it is well worth looking up which parks are nearby and spending the day. They often have waterfalls or swimming so bring a suit, a towel, toilet paper, camera... More

The staff at this national park were over the top on customer service. We stayed at hotel Los Helechos, room was large with AC and hot water, great price, Buffet or cook to order entrees, nice display of food. Waterfall trails everyday we stayed 5 days. Best coffee in Cuba, crystal mountain coffee, available from farmer stand for $5 ~... More

We went on the Trinitopes tour. It started with a visit to a demonstration coffee plantation and coffee house- however our tour guide did not bother to explain anything, nor he cared about the time we wasted there. The trail involved a descent of 300m (equal to a 100 story building!) however in a rocky muddy descent without any fence... More

We did a day trip from Trinidad to Guanayara and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Cuba. Our guide was very knowledgable and pointed out many different species of birds and told us a lot about the flora and fauna of the area. We entered a cave before hiking along to El Rocio waterfall which... More
