Stay for a night or two on the Surin Islands. Experience the authentic nature, hear the jungle sounds in the night, enjoy the monkeys who are aggressive thieves, too, take pictures of many creatures and plants in the jungle, hike the jungle track to the next beach. The surin Islands seem to be almost deserted now, that the coral suffered... More

There are several operators in Khao Lak who can book you on their 1, 2 or 3 day package, they will organize the transport from Khao Lak to Kuraburi in minivan and from Kuraburi to Surins on their speed boat. They will reserve a tent and provide you with the meals 3x day. There is a canteen that prepares meals... More

Accommodation is fairly limited on tiny Ko Surin island, just a couple of handfuls of bungalows and two camping sites. We stayed in a bungalow, it was very basic - not much more than a bed, a bit of storage and a simple bathroom. It might be the most basic place you stay in Thailand. Having said this, why on... More

I feel a little conflicted writing a review of Surin. I've been told the Thai governemnt has been trying to keep Surin low-key. It's a fragile environment and it's already under threat from daytripping snorkellers. But seeing as the tents and bungalows are limited, I thought I'd go ahead and review it. The islands are quite simply stunning. Crystal clear... More

I spent a week camping in a tent here in April 2010. I didn't book or reserve ahead. I just showed up in Khuraburi on my own and found a guesthouse there to stay the night---one company called "Tom and Am Tours" has a big sign at the bus station-and when you arrive they may come and ask to help... We decided to go to Surin Island over the Similian islands as we heared that it was better for snorkling. The islands were awesome. One of the most beautifult places I'd ever been. The water was so clear and the coral reef was amazing. We saw lots of different fished, plants, corals, but no sea turtles. We went on a... More

We visited Thailand in the spring of 2010 and spent 3 days at the Mo Ko Surin National Park. This park includes a group of islands about 60 km from Ko Lak. There is tent camping and cabins. The island is beautiful. There are 2 campgrounds from which you can swim and snorkel directly from, or take longtail boat rides... More

Wow! We'd live here if we could. We spent 5 nights in the tents in the National Park. We worried that the tents would be hot, sandy and uncomfortable. Ok, so it did take us a while to adjust (and some very bad sunburn - if you go here, make sure you are well-stocked on sunscreen, we found it Very... More
