Fantastic campsite in a beautiful setting on the river Rother. Great for boating trips, rowing or canoeing on the river or just enjoying the walking in the area. Caught the Dannie Lee Ferry upstream to Bodiam Castle…which is a fantastic way of arriving there…especially as Gary, the ferryman, is so friendly and helpful. Also walked up to Smallhythe Place and... More

Glide smoothly from Bodiam for the up journey, manned by a cheerful skipper - about 3.5 miles, passing rowing boats and kyaks, swans and fishermen on the banks, and arrive under the 17th Century stone bridge to step off at Newenden, and visit the delightful Lime Wharf Cafe, built by the present owners, who also run and help in the... Really friendly and helpful staff. I was worried that due to arthritis I wouldn't manage to get into a kayak but the staff reassured me I would be fine and sure enough, with a little help me and my husband got to spend a fantastic hour on the river. Highly recommend the Boating Station if you are new to kayaking... More

Had a wonderful weekend camping . Kids and adults loved roasting marshmallows on the fire pit. Went on the boat trip to Bodium Castle and young son loved being the skipper . Later they hired a kayak and off they went again. Father's Day breakfast was yummy and all staff are warm and friendly .

Hired a rowing boat. Nice and easy to do. Place is growing and seems like a nice place to camp too. Lovely afternoon out.

Decided to go out for a boat trip, and would highly recommend going on the Dannie lee to everyone. The captain was very friendly and let all of the children drive the boat. If you get the chance pop down to Newenden for a trip up the rother.

Thank you for your lovely write-up and I'm so pleased you enjoyed your time with us. Another time, you might like to do our sunset cruise, which takes you on a journey in the opposite direction (towards Rye). At this time of the day you are more likely to see the kingfishers and owls as they hunt and also the... More

On 22 April 2015 we went for a trip on the river Rother to celebrate my husband's cousin's birthday. Although it was quite cool, we were well wrapped up and enjoyed a leisurely cruise on the river from Bodium Castle to Newenden. The only negative was that the flood defences were so high that we could not see much of... More

Bodiam Boating Station on the River Rother. They are pleasant and helpful, and do good food. I had a good tortilla with chorizo, with salad and aioli.
