We arrived and asked if we could go out in a rowing boat. One man said yes that's fine and asked another to help us. We asked the second man how much it was - no prices displayed. He said he wasn't sure - thought it was £19 but went to check. It was £12. As it was his sole... More

I am appalled to read your review. We do take safety seriously, especially on the water. Our standard practice is to issue buoyancy aids to everyone under 18yrs and offer them to anyone else - all free of charge. We ensure we help everyone into a boat. The talk the guy gave you about the wind is as we train... More

Just back from a brilliant afternoon at Bodiam Boating Station. We hired a rowing boat and three kayaks for a very enjoyable hour messing about on the River Rother. Highly recommended as fun for all the family.

We were staying at Winchelsea Beach and fancied something a bit different. We hired x3 canoes out for £12 an hour and set off down the river. It was a beautiful day and a great laugh, plus no one fell in! Afterwards we had a few cups of tea and a great Bloody Mary to finish off the day. This... More

We've just had a brilliant weekend camping with friends at Bodiam Boating Station. It's so much more than a campsite, with a really impressive cafe, lovely new clean loos and hot showers. But the highlight for us all was the river kayaking - the kayaks were available to book by the hour and it all felt very safe for the... More

We had a lovely time camping at Bodiam Boating Station. It is quite a small campsite, with plenty of space for children to play in. The staff are friendly and attentive and the location by the River Rother is idyllic and very peaceful. The "extras" are reaonably priced - we enjoyed an hour on the river in a rowing boat,... More

My best friend had passed by this place while out working and had noticed how it had been totally rebuilt, so we went as two families on a weekend break camping, first impressions were quite good and it only got better, great front of house hospitality from Alex and all the staff, all our kids had a great time and... Fantastic campsite in a beautiful setting on the river Rother. Great for boating trips, rowing or canoeing on the river or just enjoying the walking in the area. Caught the Dannie Lee Ferry upstream to Bodiam Castle…which is a fantastic way of arriving there…especially as Gary, the ferryman, is so friendly and helpful. Also walked up to Smallhythe Place and... More

Glide smoothly from Bodiam for the up journey, manned by a cheerful skipper - about 3.5 miles, passing rowing boats and kyaks, swans and fishermen on the banks, and arrive under the 17th Century stone bridge to step off at Newenden, and visit the delightful Lime Wharf Cafe, built by the present owners, who also run and help in the... Really friendly and helpful staff. I was worried that due to arthritis I wouldn't manage to get into a kayak but the staff reassured me I would be fine and sure enough, with a little help me and my husband got to spend a fantastic hour on the river. Highly recommend the Boating Station if you are new to kayaking... More
