The Nature Pavilion nature park is conveniently located on the main highway halfway between Tortuguero and Arenal in La Virgen Sarapiqui. Look for our large white signs on the main road. Families, couples, elderly and students with every kind of camera have the opportunity to photograph toucans, hummingbirds, frogs and other exotic wildlife within 2 meters of the covered pavilion. Guests can also explore the frog area and nature trails to the river. Visitors are instantly welcomed as they are greeted by Dave & Dave, the father and son owners. We offer refreshments, free Wi-Fi & secure parking.

We went here as an additional trip to our tour of Costa Rica. Thank goodness we did. David is a truly lovely, kind man and his place to sit and watch humming birds and many species of other birds is an experience not to missed. We enjoyed it so much that we had to return the following morning to watch... More

This amazing place surpassed all expectations we could possibly have had before experiencing it! The property is a manageable size with multiple habitats and several comfortable (and covered!) viewing areas from which to see AMAZING birds and hummingbirds at close range. You can also hike the property including stair steps down to a river - steep but much more accessible... More

One of our best reviews to date! A great description of everything we offer especially the comfortable and covered viewing platforms that make it so easy to enjoy the wildlife of Sarapiqui rain or shine. It was a pleasure meeting the four of you. We hope to see you back here again! Dave and Dave More

David Ramirez and his father did a very nice job by given a former palmplantation back to nature. In about thirty years they managed to make the 6 hectares they own to a real paradise for birds. Among them several tanagers and hummingbirds, but also Aracari, Woodpecker and Oropendela. And if you walk the one and a half hour trail... More

Good afternoon from paradise Frank, It was a real pleasure meeting you and discussing our wildlife projects. Thanks so much for explaining what the guests will expect to see and do here. As you mentioned our covered observation areas are a major attraction for all tourists in the Sarapiqui area on rainy days as the guests stay nice and dry... More

The Costa Rica Nature Pavilion is an easily accessed covered platform with feeders for all types of birds including hummingbirds. If you have been out tromping through the woods and are ready for a respite with armchair bird watching then this is the place. In addition to the Pavilion they have trails as well but for me the main attraction... More

This is an excellent opportunity to see all the tanagers that you have wanted to see. Fruit is placed on branches right in front of the viewing platform and the birds do not disappoint. It is not necessary to pay the full price for a tour. We did and chalked it up to helping Dave and Dave further their vision.... More

Thanks so much for the great review. The birding is great and getting even better. Last year we were placing 60 bananas per day and this year we are now up to 100 per day! Thanks for supporting the project. The $20 self-guided tour that you experienced is by far our most popular tour that we recommend to all who... More

Worth a stop here. David is a delightful person who has taken many acres of what was once a Palm Oil Plantation (!!!! Ecological disaster) and reforested it. And he and his son have worked tirelessly to bring the bird populations back. It's been a success. Stop in and see them. I feel confident that the $ goes to planting... More

quiet and relaxing spot to watch a lot of different birds. The kolibris are just centimeters away and are humming around your head. The hospitality is perfect and we felt really welcome. The owner gave a lot of information about both birds, wildlife and the country. Perfect spot!

I'd found this place on trip advisor and emailed David in advance about visiting on a given afternoon. I was a little dismayed to arrive in Costa Rica and find an email informing me my chosen afternoon was now fully booked but i could visit a day earlier. This meant i had a rather hectic 3 hours at the pavilion... More
