Any birding/photography visit to the area would not be complete without a stop at the Costa Rica Nature Pavilion. I read about this site in a pamphlet provided by the nearby Chilamate Eco Retreat and my girlfriend/birding partner and I decided we had to make a trip. We arrived midday in between rain showers. Dave was there to greet us... More

We were the only people here at the time and Dave went over and beyond to inform us of his property and birds and wildlife on it. He showed us the local birds and how he feeds them. He also showed us the hummingbird area and I've never been so close or seen so many of them. He was nice... More

This place is simply amazing! Even if birding is not your thing, this place offers a unique chance to see wild birds including toucans, colibris and dozens of other colorful birds within few feets (2-3 meters). A unique experience.

We had a delightful time at the Nature Pavilion. We visited with our three children - ages 4, 7 and 13 - and they had a terrific time watching the hummingbirds and other birds. Dave was knowledgeable and interesting. We saw a multitude of different birds, including macaws. We also saw howler monkeys, and added treat. It was a great... More

David Ramirez and his son have have set up this private pavilion specifically for bird watching and photography. Our small group saw and photographed hundreds of birds from the deck and Mr. Ramirez was on location for IDs and explanation. Top rated!

Hey Gary, Thanks for taking time to rank and review the Nature Pavilion. It was a great pleasure chatting with you on the hummingbird balcony as we waited for the Bronze-tailed Plumeleteer (Red footed) Hummingbird to perch for the perfect shot. Thanks for sharing your great shot of the Black-cheeked Woodpecker perched on the mossy branch. This will help attract... More

It was great to see all of the various kinds of birds that came to feed. David was very helpful in identifying and pointing out birds. Such a treat to see a crimson collared tanager!

We went on an early morning (6am!) to the Nature Pavilion and spent a glorious 90 minutes observing the birds and finding out about them from David. The hummingbirds were mesmerising - could have watched them all day!

We visited Nature Pavillion via public bus from Chilamate (Selva Verde Lodge). Dave and Dave, the father and son who run it, were absolutely fantastic. Both were constantly listening and looking out for different species of birds in the trees that they could point out to us and made sure that the fruit for the birds and the sugar water... More
