Skip the crowds at Grindelwald and be amazed the same way as the Schweizer. You won't pay up the wazoo to go on the Niederbahn and the Gondola and you'll see the three Alpine masterpieces of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Be careful not to drool.

We went to the top of the Niederhorn early in the morning and had the mountains trails to ourselves. The view is always spectacular. The remodeled restaurant at the top has good food and it was a delightful morning

Make this a day out. You can take the boat from Interlaken West and get off at Beatenbucht, taking the furnicular up to Beatenberg. The gondolas take you to the top where you can walk, or just linger on the restaurant terrace and enjoy the spectacular views. Mont Blanc, Niessen, Junfrau, Eiger and Minch can all be seen. Alternatively the... More

Hefty price for the cable car but it's worth it for the view on the Jungfrau and the Justistal. Restaurant and playground for children at the top. Nice rather "flat" walk on the top or you may choose to walk back to Beatenberg but that means 800m down! The first part is easy but then comes an almost vertical descent... More

Since we were staying in Beatenberg this seemed like a good place to begin our sightseeing. Indeed it is a short cable car ride from Beatenberg to the Niederhorn Summit where the walks and views are wonderful and not too crowded.

Considering the area, the Niederhorn has great price and conditions, and it was unbelievably UNcrowded!

With enough snow the skiing at Niederhorn is ok - two red slopes and a blue one. Apart from the gondola, there's only one lift. The prices of the gondola are rather strange - a single return ticket costs more than a day ticket... and if the conditions are bad (more grass and mud than snow) the staff won't tell... More

Check the weather before making your decision on if you are going to pay the price of the cable car. If in doubt I would recommend taking the risk. It can be well worth it!!! The food is expensive at the summit, but to sit an watch the view and have a small meal or a cup of coffee is... More
