Nice views, walk pretty slow and steady

Compared to Oeschinensee, this walk is pretty good, but not great. The path first half of the walk from the lift to the small lakes and swampy area is nice, however the second half gets a bit more barren. The view once you reach Gemmipass is spectacula, and worth the effort. We did the walk on a Saturday, and found... More

Not a very challenging walk and without going over into the next valley the return is very boring as the views do not change much.

Gemmi Pass is a great day hike up and back to Kandersteg. Another option is to hike to Gemmi Pass and take the lift down to Lukerbad for the night.

It was a good but tiring hike. Scenery was nice but not as good as other places in Switzerland. I would not do it again but glad i did it once.

Its a very popular hike trail also recommended by Switzerland tourism. Weather was nice on our Hike day, took cable car from Leukerbad to Gemmipass, view from restaurant viewing platform overlooking several peaks and leukerbad was amazing. Started hike from this Hotel towards Kandersteg which is about 10 km (easy difficulty level). On the way there is beautiful lake Doubensee... More

After taking a breath, you get in the cable car which goes fast and up, and up...When on the top, a tremendous view, a mountain restaurant where you can have a drink or more, and the you discover the alpine lake, covered with ice, which you can go round for a highly pleasant walk ! Going down on foot or...with... More

We stopped off in Kandersteg during our train journey through the Swiss Alps. We were looking forward to snowshoe walking and a picturesque snow white village. Unfortunately there was only the remains of past snow thin on the ground that was otherwise icy from rain. We took the cable car up the steep climb towards Sunnbüel. It was lovely to... More

We caught the 11:00AM Sunnbuel cable car up from Kandersteg and hiked main trail to the Gemmi Pass, where we enjoyed lunch (beer and roesti with a view of the Alps across the Rhone Valley). On the way back, we also stopped at Hotel Schwarenbach for beers. We caught the 4:30PM cable car back down to Kandersteg. That tells you... More
