It was just amazing to see the ice there looking like rocks. The walk there is also worth it but it makes you also think about what is happening with our nature. The glacier is smelting down by the second and the measurements and dates are indicating it very accurately by the year.

This receding glacier is proof of global warming. By posting signs along the easy accesable walking trail, it becomes evident how quickly the effects of global warming are impacting this impressive ice giant.
The walk is not difficult, however some experience is required. I have visited the glacier in summer, fall and winter and I wouldn't be able to choose.

Area lends itself to walking and cross country skiing. Was lovely to walk from the hotel to the glacier and back.

I is a 50 minutes walk from the railway station Morteratsch of the Bernina railway to the end of the glacier. On the way you can learn about the glacier and you can find out how much smaller this glacier became since 1876 (when the end was close to the railway station).
