Very impressive building for such a traditional quiet town. The castle is very unusual. The towers are high and the building is massive with big internal palazzo to trade the goods (sorry I am not so strong in architecture :) ) it looks like the owner was really reach person. Worth a visit.

Had high hopes visiting Brig whilst staying in the Jungfrau Region. Was disappointed as there really wasn't much to do other than walk around, browse in a few shops, eat, or drink! Visited the castle which was very pretty, but that didn't take too long. The only good thing was I posted a postcard to the UK on a Sunday... More

The views were worth the visit, it is a nice place, but you can't see all the rooms, and the tourguide did not speak English.

We found out the hourly tour is only available in German. So we chose to just visit the courtyard that's FREE and open to the public. Great photograph opportunities. We walked through to the garden area and the small cute vineyards. where the grapes grew close to the ground! The fee is $8 Swiss Francs to tour. Saved ourselves $16.... More

We had a guided tour, I don't think you can just wander around on your own. The tour was in German but the guide spoke English on request, there was a hand out in English for each stage of the talk.

This is a baroque palace built by the merchant prince Kaspar Jodok von Stockalper. He made his fortune by trading in salt, silk and other goods along the mule track he had extended through the Simplon Pass in the 17th century. The large buiding is not high baroque but has some features of that age. There is an impressive quadrangle... More

This is the site where the famous and rich Stockalper Dynasty resided and traded. Now beautifully restored with plenty of information.

Rude staff. German only tour. Don't bother if you speak English. Translation provided but no indication of where you are on the tour or what you are looking at is provided. Don't bother.

Interesting history as to why Brig was important as a trade crossroads. The Castle has many interesting features including material on the Simplon Tunnel. Conducted tour well done.

With the attractions of the trips up and down mountains it would be easy to miss out on a visit to the Stockalperschloss in Brig but do take time to do so. The entrance to the castle is not very well signposted and can easily be missed, it's through the large courtyard. We were in a mixed language group therefore... More
