You start this visit with a video and then you board a train for a one of a kinde trip inside the heart of the Swiss Alps! I smiled like a little kid! I was very surprised to learn that this mine has been active since 1555. The guide was absolutely amazing, with a really vast knowledge and was so... More

We visited the mines in July with no idea of what to expect. The whole experience from the history of engineering, the science and the train journey and exhibits was incredibly thought provoking and interesting.

Not for claustrophobic or skittish people. The visit is in French, and twice a day in German. If you want explanations in English, you have to take an audio guide. The tour starts with an exhibition room about salt exploitation, then we watched a film about the mine of Bex. After that, we took a very small mine train, and... More

Not for the claustrophobic, this mine will give you a good insight in the production of salt from the 16th century to today. At the beginning of the tour a short movie will set the background history of the place, then you will take a small train to go deep into the mountain where you will visit some large caves... More

This a great rainy day activity for families. A look at life in the mines complete with a train ride 1.6 km into the alt caves. Gift shop sells items made from the mines.

We enjoyed our visit to the salt mine. We booked our tickets online, but probably didn't really need to as it wasn't crowded. There was a group of German speaking high school students on our tour, so the tour in German, and we had audioguides. The video has english subtitles, but they were very difficult to read. The tour guide... More

I thought this would be a fun, educational, rainy day activity for my family. It had the potential to be, but I was mislead by the staff and left frustrated and disappointed. I understand that the mine is located in a French speaking canton of Switzerland. I don't expect you to give tours in English, but if you are going... More

A very interesting tour into a salt mine BUT make sure you book for your own language as the French tour guide didn't speak a word of English so a lot of the details were lost to us. The surrounding area is very nice for hiking with magnificent views

I`ve been here when i was still in college, in 2005. Visited in a field trip evaluating the regions` main touristic attractions. Although it isn`t close to the main cities, it`s worth the day trip. I`ve never seen a salt mine before so this was very informative and a well planned attraction. Recommend it for families with bigger children.
