Easily accessible at many points along the route, one can enjoy the views in both tranquil sunny day or rough stormy weather, encompassing natural beauty with history lending added extra interest. During the summer a local boat goes along parts of the coast providing a varied look on the geology, geography, & "intrusion" of man. Wildlife is protected & encouraged... more

We spent our wedding anniversary weekend here in November last year, and discovered a peacfeul haven we hadn't dared hope for. The coastline is dramatic and truly breathtaking in its magnificence - but also completely unspoilt. This is raw nature - just along the coast from Bournemouth, Poole and the like, but almost on another planet. No shops, no beach... more

I am lucky enough to drive along a stretch of this coastline EVERY DAY! I drive from Weymouth to Bridport along the 'coast road' In the summer it can be difficult to concentrate on the road, the sheer beauty of the view on a summers evening takes my breath away, and in the winter when the skys are dark grey... more

This is just to say that visiting the Jurassic Coast in Dorset and East Devon is fun for all family. You can explore the cliffs and beach to find fossils in Lyme Regis (the kids love it), enjoy good food and a pleasant walk along the coastal footpath. Be sure you visit Lyme Regis at low tide if you want... more

I live in Exmouth, which is at the west end of the Jurassic Coast. It should really be the Triassic Coast at this point, since the oldest rocks date from the Triassic rather than the Jurassic period. I was so inspired by a boat trip round this section of the coast that I wrote a poem, "Triassic Coast", and had... more

Because Dorset does not have a network of major roads and motorways it has an unspoilt and slower lifestyle, possibly more reminiscent of England in the 1950's. The whole county has a strong Roman presence, as demonstrated by dozens of its village names, some now gone, as with the county town, now called Dorchester, but once known as Durnovaria. The... more

A fabulous walk in any kind of weather, assuming that you're waterproof! The views are outstanding and change with the progression along the path. The terrain is rough and walking shoes are, if not essential, at least recommended. You will long curse yourself if you don't take a camera! Can easily take a whole day or for the more adventurous... more
