Beautiful English-style park with many stunning views opening before you at the right time: you stand on the right place and then everything just clicks into place and voila, impression's there. Save yourself half a day to fully appreciate it. Parks are freely accessible throughout the day, even during night hours, but you need to pay entrance to get to... More

This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the first European landscaped park with English-style gardens and a castle fashioned after an English country home. The park is massive covering nearly 17 square miles and featuring lakes and canals as well as impressive trees, meandering footpaths and numerous bridges. Entrance to the park is free and one of the paid attractions... More

The grounds with the various castles/houses, lakes, and gondola ride were beautiful. We could have spent much more time here if our schedule had allowed. There was so much to see. Beautiful!

My son took me here because I love gardens and it was beautiful, the lakes, the little ferries and the wonderful waterlilies. I also enjoyed the swallows and the swans on the lake and banks, the walks are really good and despite having athritis I was able to walk around enough to see a lot of different lanscapes/flowers, it is a... I was disappointed in the garden. There are at least five within an hour of my home in eastern Pennsylvania that are much nicer, including Longwood Gardens and Chanticleer. The ONLY flowers were a very few wildflowers in meadows and artificial flowers near the gift shop. It had a nice lake and buildings, but no fountains or falling water.

Came here on a stop on a river cruise (like several other people it looks like!) Was expecting the gardens to be more like a manicured flower garden type, but really it was more like a lush rolling park with statues and buildings. The gondola ride through the leafy, tree covered little byways was very relaxing and pretty.

The prince, who planned the park tried to transform his whole country into one landsape park, buildings roads which tied the other gardens and castles together. I've been there at least a dozen times and I can't get enough

The Elbe river cruise mostly isn't as interesting as some of the others...except for places like this. HUGE landscaped park planned by a hyperactive 18th century prince who became so enamored with the Enlightenment and western Europe that he built this place and invited everybody who wanted to visit the place. The gondola tour is a don't-miss; if you get... More

We visited this site as part of our Viking river cruise on the Elbe River. We walked much of the site and then enjoyed a gondola ride to see areas not to be seen when walking. Breathtaking. The English-style gardens are gorgeous. It is clear that the staff takes special care with the upkeep/maintenance of this site. Seeing the various... More

I read a review of a British couple who didn't take the gondola as the view would be the same. Big mistake! If you take the gondola you see different area of the park and get some explanation and it will definitely increase the value of your visit! We also visited the palace which was nice to see too. The... More
