The Cathedral is quite impressive both inside and out. I saw the model of it in Frankfurt Museum of Architecture not so long ago, and had recently visited the city of Speyer and saw it in person. I had to pay 3 Euro to go inside the crypt, and wish it would've been free. The upstairs chapel had some pieces... More

This fantastic church dates back to 1030 when it's construction began The outside is much more photo friendly than inside. They have replaced the organ with a huge chrome one that just does not fit with this ancient building More

The church is free and next to the pedestrian zone. It is an average cathedral but there are many in Germany much more impressive. If you have experienced large cathedrals, nothing is overly interesting or unique. The statutes of past leaders in prior to going into the cathedral is the best part of the entire structure. More

The history of the Speyer cathedral is inspiring, but I must admit that the experience lacking today. The church has not quite understood how to connect the many visitors to this wonderful place and what has happened and continues to happen. I realize a church should not be a tourist attraction, but it has been for centuries. There was disappointing... More

Architecturally the cathedral is important and the crypt contains some important emperors but compared to other cathedrals in Germany and Europe this one is pretty dry. More

This was a pleasant surprise. The cathedral was very large, impressive and beautiful. Easily seen from the roadway approach. The many different steeples were breathtaking against the blue skin. Impressive old German architecture in the surrounding altstadt. Bring a camera and walking shoes. Easily covered in 2-3 hours. Lots of great photo ops. More
