Everyone who travels around Heidelberg area has to visit this old castle with it's beautiful park. You can also find many monuments and buildings like Jupiter's temple and mosque. After long walk you can relax yourself in one of many caffees who offer excellent beer and food.

The gardens at this castle are absolutely beautiful. There are formal gardens, and wooded walk through areas which lead to beautiful focal points. The mosque is outstanding and is only one of many buildings and fountains that you discover as you make your way round the garden. As a keen photographer I found the gardens to be a fantastic subject.... More

We spent two hours hours walking through the gardens- and could have spent longer. It's well maintained and very peaceful. By far the best part was the beautiful mosque- the nicest I've seen in Europe!

Spent a lovely afternoon in the very beautiful gardens of the palace. Unfortunately, the building itself was under restoration when we visited, but the orangery was accessible. The little mosque in the garden is an absolute must-see, if only because it feels like a great symbol of central-European humanism of that age. Absolutely worth while the 20 minute drive from... We visited the gardens of Schwetzingen castle with our tour group. We were not able to tour the castle due to renovation which was a disappointment, but more disappointing was that they were just getting ready to plant flowers. The gardens were not in their glory, but the guide who was dressed in period costume and stayed in character throughout... More

Behind the castle there is a very large city parc, very well maintained and many options to sit back and relax. It also has very nice sculptures and the Roman bath is worth a visit.

Extensive and beautiful gardens but castle closed for renovation. Pretty restaurant but expensive for icecream and pot of tea.

Although not as spectacular as the ones in Versailles, Chantilly not to mention Faux le Vicomte ( but again, who was able to compete with Le Notre for baroque gardens?), the formal gardens are definitely worth visiting especially when you visit the two magnificently restored "fabriques", i.e. fake buildings, that is the extremely charming mosque and its " oriental" garden... Beautiful flowers dot the entire park. The park has a lake with huge carps, a temple of Apollo, ruins of the temple of Mercury, an ornamental mosque, a cherry garden, and a Bath house which this most intriguing. In spring the Cherry blossoms burst into a lovely hue of pink and the whole garden becomes mesmerizing. Plan to spend 2-3... More

I had visited Schwetzingen about 10 years earlier for a training class and had promised my husband we would visit one day. For me the Schloss Schwetzingen.... It's grounds, surrounding park is a true gem. On this visit we spent about two hours wandering around the area, its ponds, lakes, temples and mosque. My husband loved it. Adjacent to the... More
