Don’t miss this if you have an interest in gardens. Many beautiful fountains and whimsical buildings like the Apollo Temple and Turkish Mosque in additional to formal gardens to wander and relax to spend an afternoon or the whole day. Take #717 bus from Heidelberg Train Station outside the Tourist Info Office, it is about 30 minutes. The town of... More

We visited the Schloss as part of our vacation in Germany, returning to places where my parents had visited back in the early 50's when my Dad was stationed near Mannheim. Schwetizingen Castle/Schloss was one of those places, what a beautiful garden they have as part of the facility. We took many photos of the flowers and a great photo... More

The palace was closed for visitors, but the gardens were magnificent and the mosque-inspired garden building was most unexpected, but very beautiful and peaceful. But we happened upon the biggest surprise by accident as we walked around the little downtown area. At the location from which the town's Jewish population was deported during World War II is a memorial of... More

Truly the best part of the Heidelberg region. Beautiful gardens and magnificent views. You can't believe you are in a town when you walk through the trees and sculpted areas. The temples and various themes were damn cool. If you are in the area be sure to pay it a visit.

These gardens and the palace are worth a leisurely stroll. You should also visit the Rokoko theatre in the palace. We had the opportunity to attend one of their operas presentation - very pleasant. Unfortunately we had made a reservation at the adjoining restaurant for after the opera - which was confirmed on the spot - but to our dismay... More

The gardens of the summer palace of the Princes Elect, is a great 2-3 hour stroll. acres of pathways, statues, ponds, monuments to admire. Really a small Versailles, we loved it

Schwetzingen is mostly famous for its beautiful and huge gardens around the castle. It is best to visit it from March to October. Especially the cherry blossom (usually around end of April) is really great.

As others have mentioned, the castle is currently closed for renovations but luckily we only wanted to see the gardens anyway. They are amazing, loads of different areas to explore and vast, you need at least half a day. When we went it was raining but it was still beautiful. We saw red squirrels and geese, herons, storks and huge... More

Unfortunately the castle itself was closed when we visited. I think there was some structural work going on. Apart from the scaffolding however, this didn't in any way detract from the beauty of the extensive gardens. The grounds are beautifully impressive, with many different gardens to explore. We spent a good few hours ambling through the grounds, taking in the... More
