I visited here as an excursion with the group tour that I was on and we had a wonderful visit. While the castle was not open, we visited the bath house that was in the garden which was very neat. The gardens themselves are expansive and beautiful. There is a lot to explore and see. I would definitely recommend a... More

Very impressive gardens that you can get lost in for a day. During the summer months there operas and concerts. Some hotels have free passes that you can use.

I went on the beggining of the spring to see the cherryblossoms. It was amazing! The gardens is incredible. And is very cheap. Free for students, I think. There is nothing to do in the village, but easily you can spend the whole day around the gardens. I went again without the cherry blossoms, and the garden is amazing. Keep... More

I was in the Heidelberg region in beginning of July 2015, when temperature raised so much that it was hard to stand the heat. I was advised to spend time in Schwetzingen park, right behind the castle. And it was a good piece of advice. The place is as beautiful as "refreshing" because of numerous high trees and lakes. One... More

When first walking into Schloss Schwetzingen, it is a very impressive sight to see the main garden in front of you surrounded by the palace. However, as we explored the entire grounds it became apparent that many things had been neglected or were in need of work. The fountains and ponds in particular have been very poorly maintained. It feels... More

Everyone who travels around Heidelberg area has to visit this old castle with it's beautiful park. You can also find many monuments and buildings like Jupiter's temple and mosque. After long walk you can relax yourself in one of many caffees who offer excellent beer and food.

The gardens at this castle are absolutely beautiful. There are formal gardens, and wooded walk through areas which lead to beautiful focal points. The mosque is outstanding and is only one of many buildings and fountains that you discover as you make your way round the garden. As a keen photographer I found the gardens to be a fantastic subject.... More

We spent two hours hours walking through the gardens- and could have spent longer. It's well maintained and very peaceful. By far the best part was the beautiful mosque- the nicest I've seen in Europe!

Spent a lovely afternoon in the very beautiful gardens of the palace. Unfortunately, the building itself was under restoration when we visited, but the orangery was accessible. The little mosque in the garden is an absolute must-see, if only because it feels like a great symbol of central-European humanism of that age. Absolutely worth while the 20 minute drive from...
