The unique thing about this market is that the traders sell their wares on both sides of an active railway track and simply clear the tracks when the train is scheduled to pass by. You can touch the train as it's passing by without having to even stretch out your arm if you're standing beside the tracks, it's that close.... More

My 2nd visit to this place and never feel bored when visit this unique railway market. Best period to visit this place is on the week day morning where the crowd was not so packed. Train will arrive to Mae klong railway station at about 9.45am , so you have to get ready and find a good spot to capture... More

Visited yesterday. Everything as usual but was the last day the train was running until November. There's a car or bus service to replace the train while they rebuild the tracks but the spectacle won't be there. .. On photo new schedule for train in six months.

I went there at around 9.30 am. I had to wait for 10 to 15 minutes before the train arrived. There were a lot of tourists along the track all eagerly waiting for the train. Just before the train arrived the locals calmly readjusted their stalls to let the train pass. It was fascinating to watch the entire seen unfold.... More

Recommend to be here for the afternoon train ride around 2.30pm as it will be less tourist here than the morning one. When you walk in this market make sure you are not blog other people. It is impossible to get the perfect shot with no people in the picture so please do not try to stop the walking flow... More

First arrival was at 9.45am. The market is right along the railway as many would seen on TV. People are squeezing trying to get through, the locals are buying market food and the tourist struggling to get to a nice spot for the shoot. The train will be announced upon arrival and you will see ppl starting to retract their... More

The train will pass through about 9.45 a.m Thai time. You can go earlier and slowly browse through the market along the railway line. It's quite fascinating because you can see a lot of merchandise and seafood which you have not seen before. A bit stuffy and humid because it is crowded and the path is quite narrow. There is... It takes about an hour and a half (2 hours is more realistic given Bangkok's bad traffic) to get to the railway market. Many tour agents offer transportation - just do a search online or walk into any Bangkok tour agent office. That said, most group tours tend to be extremely rushed and a private guide might be a better... More

This was my second time visiting this railway line market. Two years ago we arrived only to be told the train had derailed and would not be coming through the market. On my second time I got told the exact same thing. Not sure if this is really genuine or another scam just to get you to pay for a... More

Always a great start to a multi-day trip with friends. And a few days later the end because we are sitting in the train. The circle has closed. This place is only for shatter-proof. One must also be resistant to strong fish smell. When killing the fish with a sensitive stomach should not look closely. Also plagues the heat. Delays... More
