We booked a two-day tour with Olivier and should have booked an extra day. It was a wonderfully informative tour, with Olivier an absolute expert on World War I. His knowledge is incredible and he has a great knack of passing this on to his "guests". He has every fact and figure at his fingertips and answers every question with... More

As Canadians,we came primarily to view the monuments dedicated to those from our country who fought and died during that truly terrible time. After a day spent with Olivier, traveling the countryside following the battle line trenches on his 1916 (GPS) map overlay, we learned of all the victories and defeats, each with their long lists of casualties, shared by... Visiting from Perth, Australia, we wanted to learn about the experiences of the Australian personel in France in WW1, and thought a local French guide could give us a more universal perspective. We were right. Olivier was so brilliant. We joined him on a 2 day tour and I'm convinced there is nothing he doesn't know about the various events... More

Olivier put together a fantastic two-day itinerary to take us to the memorials to our great-uncles on the Somme. He had researched each of them and was able to take us as close as possible to the places where they were killed. All of this was wrapped in interesting detail and he drew in stories from other battles as we... More

I wanted primarily to see as intact a trench system as possible. Having told Olivier this, he put together a custom tour of the Vimy ridge memorial with its preserved trench system and then the Somme battlefields, including the Newfoundland memorial, with the best preserved lines anywhere on the Western Front. He even picked us up and dropped us off... More

We recently spent a day touring the Somme battlefields with Olivier. His incredible knowledge and passion for war history in that area was boundless. He was great company and did everything possible to ensure our day was as full and memorable as we'd hoped. Would strongly recommend touring the area with Chemins d'Histoire Batlefield Tours.

It was 1.C and there was a heavy fog that we hoped would lift, as we set off on Olivier's battlefield tour. His knowledge was extensive and his powers of description were very evocative as he had to describe many of the things that we were unable to see through the fog. But somehow the unpleasant weather conditions, along with... More

We booked a full day tour with Olivier Dirson to see both the grave yard and battlefield where my great grandfather have his life. Throughout Olivier consistently astounded us with his knowledge of dates and events running from 9 in the morning till beyond 5 pm. The tour was well planned and had good variety given the 3 generations represented... More

We very much wanted to visit the graves of our uncles, and Olivier made this possible. It was a very moving experience and we are so glad we have done it. Olivier is a very good tour guide, very knowledgeable and we learned a lot from him. Thank you Olivier you made it a very special day for us.
