Huge empty beach (October 2014) - good for walking off a superb lunch. Great views, peaceful if bracing

When we went to the beach, the wind was blowing fiercely, so that may have put a damper on our experience. Better weather may have made it more enjoyable. The beach is fine. It's clean; the water is pretty enough to look at. The biggest draw, I would think is that you can see the cliffs of Dover across the... More

The Calais beach is very wide spread, clean and spacious. THe water is for a long way shallow so also excellent for smaller children. We loved it!

Nice clean beach, pretty with beach huts and beachside play areas for the kids. We fell upon a vw car rally which was great. Cafés were expensive.

I always forget how lovely the beach is in Calais, it's a shame the area around it is a bit ropey, but early evening the light and the colours were lovely on the beach.

Lovely clean beaches all around this area. We love them as we can play ball games with our grandchildren there.

Easy to access from port - just turn right once out of ports and follow signs to plage - can be windy but great to see the ferries pass into the harbour , our kids loved it!

The French have a saying, 'If you can see England from Calais, it will rain tomorrow'. Yesterday we had the clearest of views of England ever! So, what to do when it rains? You could, like many, shuffle from one coffee bar to another, or pay a visit to stock-up on booze in the nearest Auchan or Carrefour , or... More

The Petit Train De Calais took us here as part of its 45 minute tour around the city. Like most people we've only ever gone in and out of Calais by boat and never imagined any beach here would be worth a look but in fact it is a great beach. Sandy, wide and very busy. Lots to do with... More
