Very interesting boat trip round water gardens near amiens centre. We went in morning and no waiting. Apparently large queues in afternoon.

Lovely boat trip through the hortillonnages - beautiful and so peaceful in the middle of the city. Interesting history.

A very old system of irrigation canals, formerly running between agricultural fields, now between private gardens. Boat drivers speak only french. To hear the history of the place, which goes back to roman settlers, make sure you have someone in the boat who can translate.

The queue for the boat trip looked too long, so we walked around the banks by the gardens. They are beautiful and a very enjoyable afternoon! Worth a visit.

Amiens has a lot of waterways in the middle of town. People have built holiday homes, gardens and allotments there and the tourist trip involves being driven round in an electrically powered punt for 45 minutes. It really is a unique sight.

We were fascinated by the idea of garden that were only visible by boat, so we made a detour to Amiens to see these. While the 45-minute boat ride was pleasant enough, the gardens were sparse and uninteresting. The highlight was a sighting of a great blue heron. On the whole, not worth the detour and standing in line for... More

Thought it sounded lovely but had several attempts to try to walk around only to meet dead ends. Signposting poor. Information leaflets unhelpful and misleading. But we had a nice stroll along Somme instead.

Just a 5 minute walk from the centre of Amiens, we enjoyed a very pleasant stroll along the river and then on to edge of the Hortillonages. Even better you can take a flat boat/punt ride through the small channels between the garden islands.
