The history of glove making drew me to this museum. It has a detailed exhibition on an upper floor of the history and methods used, samples, machinery, and some spectacular gloves that are very high fashion, and some that are historic artifacts showing a wide variety of embroidery and embellishment techniques. There are several other displays in the museum, the... More

Set at the nice town square, this smallish museum offers two interesting displays: The one on the history of the town from stone age, through the busy roman time an onwards. Even more interesting is the department on the town's important leather industry including vidos on the crafting, old tools end shops and display on haut couture throughout the times.... More

The museum contains a lot of information about the local glove industry. Millau used to export gloves to the USA and around the world. Allow an hour at least for this interesting museum.

We enjoyed this museum and learnt how it the area supplied all the Roman Empire with pottery. Despite the time of year it was not very busy and the pottery amazing.

Millau is cold in March. In a bid to stay warm we entered the Museum without having researched what was on offer. It had a lovely exhibition on stained glass and the desk clerk was extremely helpful in explaining what there was to see, what was free and what carried a charge. This is an ideal place to soak up... Learn how Millau served as the source of pottery for the entire Roman world. View hundreds of samples of recovered pottery and see many other artifacts.

A rather old fashioned museum and all the better for it! Archeology, geology and of course the pottery made at Graufesenque. Found all over the Roman world, as far away as the Orkneys in the north and Turkey in the east A special section on the local manufacture of leather gloves proves remarkably interesting.
