I have been wanting to visit Ceret for a very long time. Many people recommended a visit and raved about the permanent collection. Ceret is a pretty little village with a very arty feel to it. It seems that on every corner there is a gallery or brocante. The gallery is a very nice building but to be honest I was... More

If you find yourself in southwest Catalan France, go to Ceret for this museum. They have a fine permanent collection featuring many famous artists and some absolutely beautiful pieces by relatively little known artists that will dazzle you. In addition they always have a special exhibition. This time it was sculptures by Jaume Plensa. His work was so entrancing it... More

So many 20th century artists made their home in Ceret at some stage or other, the collection of largely local scenes is extensive and varied. The 28 plates depicting the Ceret bullring created by Picasso over 6 days are amazing. The whole museum is wonderfully light and spacious - plenty of room to see the works displayed. And there are... Visiting the museum is a 'must do' if you are in Ceret, there were some really lovely displays on while we were there, and the standard was exceptional. It is a surprisingly good museum, considering the size of the town, but given the area's prominence in the early history of some of the truly great modern artists, not out of... More

This little known museum was a wonderful surprise. Lots of works by artists who have spent time in this delightful village. These include Picasso (lots of ceramics) and Marc Chargall as well as other Spanish and French artists, particularly from the 1920s era. The current featured exhibition by sculpture Jaume Plemsa is brilliant and open until November 2015.

Very interesting museum. We went there for Jaumen Plensa exhibition an it was amazing. Only five rooms with sculptures but it delight us. There is a permanent exhibition about local artists and the temporary exhibition. It worth a visit if you go to this region.

A great art gallery, not too large, interesting with some really excellent pieces. Main exhibitions change often enough to create a reason for visiting often but the permanent exhibits of Picasso's bowls are lovely too. Great to combine with the Saturday market and other galleries and shops in Ceret.

A very good permanent exhibition of works by artists associated with the town and environs - including Picasso. These are very interesting, but the museum always excels with its special exhibitions, this year featuring Jaume Plensa, a Spanish sculptor and designer of large-scale works for public spaces. And it's not so big that you get overwhelmed by the number of... More

The Modern Art Museum takes pride of place in the centre of Ceret on one of the town's main streets; take a stroll along the boulevard lined with towering plane trees and you will easily find your way to its doors. The museum is small, small but perfectly formed. For those, like me, who are often daunted by the prospect... More
