It's the heart of Calvi. We loved walking around the cobbled streets, each turn of the corner is a surprise, another lovely view or colourful window shutters or a charming restaurant tempting you with their delicious food. Do wear flat shoes though ladies walking on cobbles is not recommended.

Picturesque and interesting with some nice restaurants. A steep climb on a hot day but worth it for the fabulous views !

As others have said the Citadel is far more impressive viewed from a distance, I would rather pay a small entrance fee and feel that the area was being protected and looked after than looking a little dilapidated. The views are good and it is worth a visit but close up it is not particularly impressive.

Visiting Calvi's Citadel is akin to walking within the pages of a mysterious medieval novel. With a picture framed view around every corner of each alleyway it really is a must see so make sure you have plenty of memory available in your camera! It's also really worth visiting the baroque style church in the centre of the citadel and... More

Calvi is our favorite summer-city in Europe. It's lively, it's cosy, it's genuine - NOT a tourist trap. This it what we love ! When you are in need of a bit of coolness and quietness, a glas of chilled whitewine or/and an icecream - then go to the Citadel. And above all - enjoy the view :-)

This is quite a special place and a must for any visitor to Calvi. Take your time to wander around and soak up the atmosphere. There are many photo opportunities so have your camera ready. Do not visit Calvi without going around the Citadel.

This is a great a place start to get the best views of the town and everything it has to offer. Also, you have great variety of small cafes and restaurants to stop and catch your breath for a moment.

Calvi is a quaint town with restaurants looking out to the harbor where one can sit with a coffee or beer, free wifi, and just relax. We walked to the citadel, a bit of a climb up, and walked all around it. Nothing terribly spectacular but nice.

It stands above the town very proudly and if you have the energy to walk up, the views are well worth the effort. Great views of the boats in the marina.

There some great views from the walls , however strolling around the interior streets is disappointing. Basically, apart from the church, there is very little to see or experience. Still worth the exercise but admire it from the marina, far more impressive.
