Sibu is a short distance from San Jose. It is one of THE most fun experiences I have had on an international trip or tour. The owners, Julio and George, were available to tell the history of chocolate (much new to me), and to provide a tasting of their unique approach to its creation. Just wonderful. We stayed for lunch.... More

A short distance outside San Jose, in the hills of San Isidro de Heredia, a delight awaits you. Sibu Chocolate of Costa Rica provides the most pleasant, comfortable, delicious way to experience all things chocolate. After being greeted with little cups of hot chocolate, then seated in an open air, covered patio at tables with a trays of samples, two... More

Sibu Chocolate is not just a chocolate shop, it's an experience. Nestled into beautiful gardens, I ventured out of San Jose to see what this chocolate tour was about. I've travelled extensively all over the world, and have been to many "tastings" from tea, to pasta, to wine, and lots of chocolate shops/factories, but Sibu outshines them all! The owners,... More

Four of us went to SIBU today for a chocolate tasting and lunch. It was informative, entertaining, delicious and truly a perfect day! I highly recommend it for any chocoholic. I was so impressed with the environmental care they take with every step of this business. The chocolates are world class and totally organic. The flavor profiles are beyond anything... More

We stopped at Sibu Chocolate on a recent vacation to Costa Rica. Our visit was on our first full day in Costa Rica and was extraordinary! We learned about the origins of chocolate in the lovely setting of Sibu. My 9 year old and 7 year old enjoyed the discussion and the tasting plate of chocolates that we sampled. After... More

We had the most wonderful time at Sibu chocolate. The tasting is unlike anything we've experienced and even our 7-year old enjoyed it. Julio, one of the co-owners, masterfully recounts the history of chocolate using props and visuals and beautifully connects each story to the chocolates temptingly placed before you. He then instructs you on how to savour each one... More

We spent a fabulous day at Sibu Chocolates. We took the tour where we learned so much about the history of chocolate. After sampling some of the amazing chocolate they make at Sibu, we had a delicious lunch of bean enchiladas, fresh salad, pumpkin soup, and chocolate chip cookies. And coffee! I was so enthralled by the beautiful surroundings. I... More

Julio and George have a passion for chocolate and by the time you are done tasting, you too, will appreciate and evaluate chocolate differently. Go for the morning tour as the lunch is excellent and the scenery is beautiful. As long as you have the phone number for Sibu, your taxi driver can call for directions if needed.

Had the pleasure of discovering Sibu chocolates when Monte Azul eco-lodge offered a small box of Sibu truffles as a departure gift. Chose to visit Julio and Jorge's artisanal chocolate facility (where they also reside, in a gorgeous semi-rural setting) instead of enduring the hustle and bustle of San Jose during our last full day in Costa Rica, which proved... George and Julio provided a thorough talk, tasting and tour of their artisan chocolate factory, up in the hills above San Jose in a lovely garden setting. We had a delicious lunch as well. They are passionate about their chocolate, and the tasting took us from a roasted cocoa bean to mouth-watering truffles. We bought cocoa nibs, and a chocolate... More
