Absolutely brilliant, thoroughly recommend. A must if you want to know the history of Volterra, Annie was outstanding.

Annie took us on a historic tour of Volterra. We were a group of 8 which included 4 teenagers and they said they really enjoyed it! The tour ended with a look at an alabaster workshop which was brilliant, a great way to finish the tour. Annie is full of knowledge about the surrounding area. An absolute must if visiting... More

We had the pleasure of joining Francesco for a full day wine tour & trip to the Mad Butcher for lunch. Francesco met us at our agriturismo outside of Volterra and began by telling us about the different types of Italian wine. He answered all of our questions and was very knowledgeable (& personable!) We learned a lot and I... More

Annie is an engaging guide for Volterra past and present. We enjoyed her insider's stroll through a fascinating history of Etruscan high culture, Florentine atrocities, a WW II dramatic rescue and how psychiatric patients saved the Roman Theater. Francesco is a sommelier who speaks of local wines with a humble and humorous take that is not intimidating but very informative.... More

Annie Adair took a small group on a one hour tour of Volterra in April 2015. She was enjoying herself so much she asked if we minded if we went over (a half hour over) and it was unanimous we wanted more. Her knowledge and her passion for her city was tremendously evident and we enjoyed every minute of the... More

We had a two hour guided tour of Volterra. Annie was a highly dedicated guide with thorough knowledge of Volterra. Her passion for the city made the tour very interesting, also for the children. This tour was worth every cent!

This has taken me a little while to write up - sorry Annie! We got married in Volterra in July this year and I contacted Annie after seeing other positive reviews on this site. As well as doing tours in and around Volterra, Annie and Francesco also do wedding planning. From the start, Annie was helpful, friendly and responsive to... More

On our recent, all-day tour of Volterra, Annie achieved the impossible: in our group, made up of two families, she engaged and entertained the children, while sharing her in-depth knowledge and love of the medieval town with the adults. For the six children, Annie provided lively stories, quirky facts about life in past centuries and a fun-filled scavenger hunt. During... More

Annie took a group of 6 of us on a 2-hour walking tour of Volterra and every one of us enjoyed the experience and were glad we did it. Annie is American, so it was easy to communicate with her. She showed us sites, explained the history, and took us to an alabaster studio where we had a bowl made... More

I have had the extreme pleasure of accompanying my husband to Volterra on three occasions with the David McGuffin Exploring Europe tour company. The last two times, we were privileged to take a tour with Annie Adair. Our time spent with her was a definite highlight! Each time she provided us with wealth of new knowledge. She supplied lots of... More

After spending the day running along platforms and up and down steps to catch trains and hiking across train stations and airports looking for buses, all while carrying luggage - in a drizzle; we were dragging when we got to Volterra. Drug our luggage up the hill to the hotel; then it was time for the walking tour of the... More
