We liked the grottoes under the palace (which was occupied by the owners when we went) and the wall hangings that are hundreds of years old. The gardens were beautiful as well but we spent too long in the palace to appreciate them

The park is very impressive and from my perspective a must see. However the ticket was really expensive. My wife decided to to visit the palazzo and the park

We went with young children and slthough there was a wait for tickets to get in, it was worth the wait. (They only had one ticket person on at the time) Lovely table settings, grand views, puppet displays, interesting grottos and a grand ball room with waltzes being played. Our children danced!

The boat ride from Stresa takes 10-15 minutes. We opted to tour the palace on our own. The views of the lake from the palace windows are gorgeous, just like the palace. The shell grottoes are a cool place on hot summer days. The views from the Stresa shore do not do justice to the gardens; you miss the white peacocks... More

Loved the gardens. The Palazzo was grand and our guide was very funny. Interesting to learn about the Borromeo family and how much they own in the area. This is Borromeo country.

Very pretty grounds and ornate palace. We paid the extra fee to see the paintings gallery and Queen's throne but the paintings are all very dark just like the ones in the rest of the palace and the throne is nothing special (no pictures allowed) so we don't recommend it. There are lots of vendor booths enroute to the palace... More

Isola Bella and the palace and gardens are not to be missed if you are visiting this area. The views of the lake from the garden are fantastic, and look out for the white peacocks strutting around the gardens.

Nice house and grounds. After the sights of Rome and Sienna perhaps you will understand that the highlight was the family of peacocks in the garden and the view of the lake and mountains. Must be nice to live there! The day got off to a bad start with an appalling meal in the Ristorante Elvezia on the island which... More

The palace itself is interesting, but the gardens are outstanding. The landscaping is beautiful, the terracing and structure are wonderful, the views of the water from every location are great. What a way to live!
