If you're an art and architecture lover like me, don't miss Villa Panza in Varese Italy, between Lakes Maggiore and Como. In this exquisite 18th century villa, worth seeing for the architecture alone, resides the unexpected: one of Europe's most important collections of American contemporary art. The juxtaposition of new vs. old has never been more cleverly conceived. And don't... More

Really enjoyed our visit to Villa Panza! The juxtaposition of the modern art in the classic house was stunning. I loved the gardens, and we had them all to ourselves. And the temporary exhibit, all light installations, was quite interesting.

The 20th C. art collection is wonderful. Colorfield paintings give way to Dan Flavin's splashes of neon color in this sprawling villa. You've never seen so much in your life! The gardens surrounding the villa are nice, as well. Don't go expecting period furniture, though there is a little.

After paying admission, parking, and lunch at the cafe, I left feeling like I had been pick-pocketed. The villa itself is a treasure, although not unlike many others in the area. Garden has lots of green space, but again, not overly inspiring. The art exhibit really left me scratching my head. Room after room of white painted walls with varying... More

A really staggering museum set in a complex of old palatial buildings with artwork brimming with interest. Also set in beautiful parkland.

We enjoyed the independent audio guided tour through the art collection at villa Panza. Although the art collection is explained in detail, there was little information about the house itself. It is a wonderful building which is immaculately maintained thanks to the work of the FAI. The gardens are also delightful. We enjoyed lunch at a little crepe restaurant outside... More

The estate is beautiful and well mantained; the gardens offer a nice view on Varese The art collection is displayed on two floors The first floor has a lot of monocromatic paintings on exhibit Not really interesting, I think But the second floor, with its neon artworks and sky lights, is impressive

Tourist want go to visit this palace must be accompanied, usually from by self is very difficult to enter and visit inside, because all Italian patrimony is a business and property of man of power like politic men and priest.

the "art" or "contemporary art" is pathetic as we see it, but the building and the furnishing (e. g. inlaid works) and the garden is great
