White Church and blue sky

Fantastic view ; stones are all in real white what makes it look bit artifial. Environment is not treated as touristic zone because its dirty.

Located on top of a rocky island connected to the mainland by a short causeway it occupies a great position that affords spectacular views of the town pf Tropea clinging to the clifftops right opposite. There Are nice sandy beaches on eithet side.

The tour of the monestary is fine but the true magic is to photograph it at magic hour from high ground. Its also fee. ;)

I visited this legendary church one morning before heading to the beach at the foot of the hill where this famous church is loceted. The gates opened at 9 am a small staircase leads to the top, nothing strenuous, but once you reach the top you can enjoy a beautiful view over the sea and the fantastic town perched. The... More

Unfortunately the day we tried to climb up to visit the weather/wind was bad and it was closed. Beautiful site though with the sea as a backdrop

Fantastic little church, really atmospheric. Once you climb to the top, you get asked for €1 to go into museum, garden and panorama. The €1 is really good value and you get views from the top of the church that you wouldn't otherwise get. The church itself is really quite lovely and shouldn't be missed if you go to Tropea.

Definitely a great place worth visiting, deservedly appointed as the official “postcard” of Tropea in the world. The typical spot for great photo opportunities, especially when a splendid backdrop of blue sky and sea is available. The site in itself deserves top scores, and is certainly a must when in Tropea, however I think that the management of the place... More

You can't visit Tropea with seeing Santa Maria dell'Isola. First impressions are generally from the Piazza del Cannone. It's impressive! Climbing the stairs to the top of the rock island is also a treat but nothing compares to to views from the garden Behring the church down into the crystal clear sea. The feeling is peaceful, quiet and reflective. Well... More

The church od St. Maria della Isola is situated on the small islet right in front of the cliff of town of Tropea. It is possible to visit the Church, going an amount of steps up to the summit of the island. Church is small, but inside there is a nice frescoed ceiling, and a pair of old stone bas-reliefs....
