You can't visit Tropea with seeing Santa Maria dell'Isola. First impressions are generally from the Piazza del Cannone. It's impressive! Climbing the stairs to the top of the rock island is also a treat but nothing compares to to views from the garden Behring the church down into the crystal clear sea. The feeling is peaceful, quiet and reflective. Well... More

The church od St. Maria della Isola is situated on the small islet right in front of the cliff of town of Tropea. It is possible to visit the Church, going an amount of steps up to the summit of the island. Church is small, but inside there is a nice frescoed ceiling, and a pair of old stone bas-reliefs.... Lots of stairs to climb but the views are spectacular! There is a small fee to pay to go in. I think it was 2 euros pp. Some nice religious items you can purchase in there as well.

One of the nicest locations along the southern coast of Italy. This church stands out for its unique location as it's placed right above the sea. Perfect for sunset photos in late afternoon as the sun sets into the water in this part of Calabria. Just beautiful!

Enjoyed the walk to the waterfront and up the stairs to this church which looks just like a sandcastle from town. Go through the church and enter the garden where there are several lookout spots to see in all directions.

This church sits out on the water and the view is amazing. It is worth the walk just for the view. Walk out in to the gardens to see the blue water. ..wow.

If in Tropea, do tale the time to climb up the "Isola" and visit this small church. A real mystic atmosphere there and beautiful views from the square in front of it.

Unfortunately it was closed. I think it opens in April. Pretty from outside. Would have liked to see inside.
