We visited the Parco Nazionale della Maiella from Chieti by car. It’s a 26 km drive which is steep and the road is awful in certain stretches (in particular from the Passo di Lanciano). After overcoming these minor nuisances you park your car at 2000 m. and you enter an area without any traces of humans for many miles around.... More

We visited Caraminico specifically to go walking in the Orfento Valley Nature Reserve. Good hiking if you can find the trails and the vistas are beautiful. The distances are not great when searching for a hike since the numbers of roads in the mountains are not many. We appeared to go around the mountains on the same road with a few spurs.

The tradition of la madonna che scappa is keep up and the piazza was packed like an egg. We found a good place albeit far and were able to see the statue of... More
