Positano is a picturesque Amalfi coast town loaded with charm and wonderful views. The color filled Spiaggia Grande is the main beach area at the town's base. A bit pebbly, it covers a wide stretch of water and is mostly private ... meaning you will need to rent a lounge chair and umbrella if you want to enjoy the beach.... More

The beach is mostly smooth rocks and greyish sand but the views from the beach and the sea is simply breathtaking. The truth is you do not come to Positano for the beach but for the magnificent and charming town itself:)

Cool beach - one of only 2 major ones in Positano. 10 euro per person for a beach chair and umbrella, 2.50 euro for a towel if you don't bring your own. All the workers are nice and attentive. Very clean bathrooms and changing rooms. Spend the day here - you can order food & drinks (and alcohol) from the... More

The beaches are rocky and you really need to purchase a chair. We brought water shoes which made it so much easier swimming. Tons of water activities to advantage of and you can walk right off the beach and have a wonderful meal.

As you drive to Positano from the West (i.e. coming from Sorrento) you will come upon a fairly large overlook with some parking (more space than some of the small cutouts on the narrow winding coastal road) and probably more than a few vendors trying to sell you souvenirs. Make your way to the railing and enjoy the view of... More

Positano is one of those picturesque hillside towns that defines the Almafi coast. The town is so vertical and colorful, you can't help but love it. It's challenging for those that have a hard time with steps and steep inclines, but I've been waiting a long time to see this place. The beach itself isn't much. It's mostly smooth rocks... More

None of the beaches in Amalfi are really stunning themselves The idea is to get high up and get as wide and wholistic a view as possible over the coast line and onto Positano itself. Pictures attached

The beach itself is very average. It is small and crowded with grey, uncomfortable pebbles which are not all pleasant to walk or lie on. There are many private operators on the beach where you can hire lounge chairs and umbrellas. I don't mind if there is perhaps one or two on a beach but this beach has been taken... More

Well, I have seen better beaches, but the views just could not be more spectacular. From the beach, you can get a clear and unobstructed vista of the beautiful hill town, crystal clear water, brightly colored boats, lovely picteresque old buildings hanging over the sea...There are plenty of cozy cafes and restaurants around; we picked one of them and stopped... Yep, it's a tourist trap. The walk from the main road (SS163) will take you past numerous restaurants, hotels, and gift shops. Feel free to shop and enjoy! I felt there was a good mix of Italians and tourists, but you'll notice more than a few tour buses from all over. But seriously, the views are INCREDIBLE. Put your feet... More
