The soil rich in fossils, oysters and shells, the micro climate and a wide temperature range are all factors particularly suitable for wine growing. Beside a very modern cellar, the visitor has the possibility to admire the Etruscan caves, today utilized for the production of the sparkling wine "spumante" and to mature certain wines in barrels. Within spectacular scenery, the Estate organizes guided tours to their cellars followed by wine tasting and local delicacies. WE ARE OPEN! Saturday & Sunday « less

My husband and I thought that since we were staying in Orvieto for a few days, that it might be fun to do a cooking lesson and learn how to make pasta. Being end of January, we are terribly off season and there were no cooking classes running. I noticed that the winery Decugnano dei Barbi offered cooking classes and... More

I found out about Decugnano dei Barbi while scouring the internet for things to do on a day trip to Orvieto from Roma. We were a group of four travelling in May 2012 and I couldn't fault anything about the whole tour. The initial booking was easy, with Anna Rita giving me plenty of answers and assistance with the many... More

We were in Rome for a week and took this day trip to Orvieto and included the wine tour and cooking class at Decugnano dei Barbi. What an amazing and a great change from the sights in Rome. Take an early train from Rome and visit the ancient town of Orvieto. In the afternoon arrange for a taxi to take... More

This place was one of the highlights of our trip up to Italy.. A MUST SEE IF YOUR NEAR ORVIETO. We stopped here on the way to Florence from Rome and were blown away, not only by the beautiful location, views and wonderful wine, but by the graciousness of our host Enzo (and his faithful canine companion Tom). We were... More

Anna Rita is a wonderful tour guide, and the Decugnano dei Barbi estate is breathtaking. A lovely tour and incredible views from the chapel where the tastings are offered. The small bites served with the wines were perfect pairings. Highly recommend reserving a tour if you are in the Orvieto area.

I run an online travel business based out of Rome and have done many wine tours and tastings around Italy and Anna Rita is one of my favorites (I've even gone twice). The tour is the perfect balance of walking around learning about the wines, history, and estate, combined with the tasting (including delicious local cheeses, meats, and olive oil).... More

Spend a couple of hours or so at this heaven on earth, the vineyard location and views are truly stunning. Dear Judith R. A personal thank you from me for the kind words!! I felt a bit embarrassed by all the compliments!!! I must admit you entertained me as much as I have done with you..
