My husband and I stopped by Gattavecchi on our walk through Montepulciano and we are SO glad we did! We walked into the small shop and were welcomed by Mauritzio, the owner's son. We asked about wine tasting and he showed us to the wine cellar (which is so cool!) to take a look around before tasting the wine. When... More

Great wines. We saw a lot, tasted some great wines and, ofcourse, bought the best they had. Enjoying it right now. Nice hostess, took the time for us.

Unfortunately we are unable to rate the wine or the food here as we didn't even receive the opportunity to try them. We walked inside and were shown the cellar by a lady which we viewed ourselves, but from then onwards we were ignored. Once we had viewed the cellar and returned to the common area we advised 2 separate... More

Winery located just outside the Montepulciano's historical city centre (something like a 2 minutes walking from there) in a lovely, quiet and fascinating spot. The winery is elegant, but not to the point of discouraging casual tourists. It's possible to visit the wine cave, which may be is not astonishing but still interesting to see. The wine tasting menus are... More

Great meal and wine here the other night. Try the bruschetta plate for 2, it's massive and great. Good wines as well, I would definitely go back.

Really enjoyed Gattavecchi Winery! Wine is excellent and they treat you like family. My husband and I were exploring Montepulciano and when it started raining, we strolled right in to Gattavecchi Winery. Daniella greeted us and invited us to take a tour of the caves which was beautiful. When we finished, she greeted us again, giving us the history of... More

Visiting vineyards is not the same as US or France. No tours for non large groups no getting near the vineyards. Tasting at in town stores only. Prefer the vineyard experience

After reading all the great reviews here, I instinctly knew this family-run winery and cantina would be a perfect stop for our travelling group of 37 friends and family. From the moment we arrived in Montepulciano, Daniella and the entire Gattavecchi family went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We took in the wonderful views, toured the centuries-old... More

We had a five course meal, with a different a wine with every course. Every wine was excellent - my wife who is real lover of red wine was so happy. The food was excellent too. The staff were very friendly. We will defianately go again. Thank you very much - especially to the owner's wife and son for making... More

Had a great time here; 20 minute tour of the cellars, then a tasting upstairs, with bread and oil. Only two wines, but it was a generous pour. Cost 10E per person, didn't break the bank. We'd recommend to anyone. Best part: wines were good, but unpretentious and relatively inexpensive at the end. We got their main wine, the Nobile,... More
