Our tour guide arranged for us to stop at Gattavecchi Winery not only to taste their wines but to also go into their cellar and beyond down into a recently discovered Etruscan tomb. The wine cellar is amazing with all of the original stone and built into the hillside. While there is nothing in the tomb you can see the... More

My wife and I visited here for Lillians cooking class - this was a fantastic experience and thouroughly enjoyable.. The food, the wine, and the company was excellent and in my view it would be a shame to miss out on this whilst in Montepulciano!

This is our second visit to Tuscany and Gattavecchi Winery/Cucina di Lilian has been our favorite place by far. Coming to the cantina after a two year absence, we were greeted by hugs and kisses by Jonathan and Lilian, as if we were long lost family. The cellars are spectacular, with an ancient Etruscan tomb dating back millennia. The wine... More

We visited Montepulciano this summer and had a lunch at Gattavecchi with a glass of wonderful Gattavecchi Vino Nobile di Montepulcian, Riserva 2009. We liked it so much that we decided to order 12 bottles to be shipped to our home in the UK. Maurizio gave us a “good deal” on the shipment. It arrived promptly, neatly packed in two... More

We had a wonderful tour and tasting followed by a good, but frenetic, wine tasting. Luckily, we were staying for lunch and that helped round things out. The wines were good to very good. The lunch experience was very good. The food was well prepared and the pace of lunch was appropriate. The ribolleta was amazing. I would recommend for... More

We were a group of 5 couples visiting Tuscany for a week and our first stop was Montepulciano. After exploring the city, we had a reservation for a tasting and were warmly welcomed and were seated at a scenic table out on their porch. Everyone at Gattavecchi was so friendly and the wine tastings were very generous. We tasted 3... More

We visited this winery with our family - 6 adults, 1 child. We took a tour of the wine cellar and had lunch. The tour, given by a family member of the winery was informative and interesting. Lunch was enjoyable. We only had a tasting menu, light fare, but the smells of the food and smiles on the faces of... More

What a nice place to stop to try the nobile, the Rosso is wonderful too!! Family run, the owner is very nice- he proudly and generously shares tastes of his wine. We bought several bottles for enjoyment during our stay and riserva to take home.

It took a few tries to find this place but once we did it was heaven. Gorgeous views, lots of great wines and our gracious host Maurizio let us hang out for a few hours on the deck over looking the valley. Would recommend to anyone visiting the charming town of Montepulciano.
