Gattavecchi is a charming hillside winery a short walk from the center of Montepulciano. Classic Tuscan countryside panoramic views on the way and a genuine friendly welcome upon arrival. Toured the vineyards, cask aging facilities and the farm. Enjoyed a nice tasting of their Vino Nobile, Rosso and blends - quite good. Highlight was touring the Etruscan tomb found in... More

I scheduled a wine tour and lunch. I specifically asked Daniella what we should do first-lunch or tour. She recommended tour. After reading reviews on Trip Advisor, I was expecting to pay E20 per person and have a tasting and some appetizers. When we arrived, we got a 5 minute speech from her brother and then he said "I have... More

The very winery is a little remote, located on a far side of the Montepulciano hill; it takes as much as 15 minutes to walk there. The staff is very hospitable and the wine is decent; we bought a bottle of young dry red wine.

Called ahead the previous day to set up a tour/tasting for seven. They were very accommodating and asked us what time we would like to come. After a tour of the cellars which are dated back to the 1200s, we did the Reserve Tasting which was three wines, cheese, cured meat, and olive oil and bread. It was more than... More

At the top of the hill in Montepulciano. It is in a nice setting and food was fine. Did not do the wine tasting so can't comment on it. Servers very friendly.

We have arrived for a late lunch after the kitchen closed. However the family offered us to prepare soup and some cold local apetizers. Although we were very hungry, this was one of the best soup and apetizers we ever had. The family is very kind. We have tasted three types of very nice wines also.

Our tour guide arranged for us to stop at Gattavecchi Winery not only to taste their wines but to also go into their cellar and beyond down into a recently discovered Etruscan tomb. The wine cellar is amazing with all of the original stone and built into the hillside. While there is nothing in the tomb you can see the... More

My wife and I visited here for Lillians cooking class - this was a fantastic experience and thouroughly enjoyable.. The food, the wine, and the company was excellent and in my view it would be a shame to miss out on this whilst in Montepulciano!
