The self-guided tour of the wine cellars is very good, but could use some signs with descriptions. The woman in the tasting room was very friendly, really loved the wines, and we were glad to take home some of the best.

This is a great little winery tucked away at the top of the hill. It is a great stopping point and it is free to walk through. You can walk through halls of huge Oak casks storing wine. There is a tasting room at the end of the hallway where you enter you can stop by. You are not required... More

Montepulciano, the surrounding hillsides, and its wine is one of our favorites in Italy. So when we read about Contucci Cantina in Rick Steves' guidebook, it was a must. Right on the Piazza Grande. Walking in with guidebook in hand, they laughed and pointed us immediately to the self tour into the bricked cellars among the vats and history of... More

We took a little self tour of the cellars and then went to the tasting room. The lady that helped us there was very nice and took the time to explain the attributes of the different wines. We ended up purchasing 3 different wines and she even gave us a discounted price. We talked with her about how cold it... More

During a day trip from Rome to Cortona & Montepulciano we were able to tour the Contucci Cantine. This winery tour was amazing!! Loved the little old man Adamo that gives the tour. The guide that came with us from Rome translated and we walked all through the awesome winery. It's just amazing to be in a place that has... More

On a road trip for the day, stopped in Montepulciano to wander -- and we happened upon a wine tasting at Contucci Cantine -- what luck! We were able to visit the cellars and when the other tasting was complete, we met Adamo briefly and then had our own wine tasting with Adamo's son (?), who was very informative and... More

Stopped in while strolling around Montepulciano and was given a warm and friendly greeting from cellarman of 50 years, Adamo. We toured through the cellar and then Adamo gave us a bit of the history and led us to the tasting room. Enjoyed our sampling and left relaxed and happy to explore more of this lovely town. Thank you to... More

We read about Cantina Contucci in Rick Steves’ book and decided to visit. At first, we had a tour of the wine cellar, and after - wine tasting of famous Vino Nobile di Montepulciano with host Adamo. Adamo is a very colorful person, and wine is definitely his passion. We tried several wines. It was hard not to try: Adamo... More

Walking through the cellars was neat, but the wine experience was nothing special. Once in the actual shop, we were asked which one we wanted to taste and what do we want to buy. Pretty impersonal experience without much information. At least they didn't charge for the one tasting they offered.

I happened in here during a daytrip to Montepulciano--I'd wanted to do a little wine tasting to so followed Rick Steves' suggestions and I was glad I did. Adamo was charming and entertaining, and the woman working with him--I can't remember her name, but she was delightful! I really enjoyed visiting with them and tasting their wine!
