Adamo's winemaking is wonderful...the Contessa should be proud!

We stopped by to taste the wine and enjoy the hospitality of Adamo. Wonderful gentleman and great winemaker. This is well worth the time to stop and relax for a moment.

A great stop near the central piazza where you can sample the signature Montepulciano wine- Vino Nobile. Carefully time your visit, because the key draw here is Adamo. You don't have to speak any Italian to know how passionate Adamo is about his Vino Nobile. The man has been working at Contucci for over 60yrs (in the regional wine industry... More

We popped in to the cellar for a wine tasting here and had a great time - got to meet proprietor Adamo, of Rick Steves fame, and taste delicious wines - for free! We bought a bottle and would have bought more if we could fit them in our suitcase

The woman conducting the wine tasting was extremely rude. We told her we wanted to try their white wine, she gave us the red wine to try & then flat out refused to let us try the white wine. She said "absolutely not possible." I finally found someone else that told her to let us try it. Wierd & unpleasant... More

We are sorry for what happened, but I think there has been a misunderstanding because our employees do to taste the wine You want During the tasting, there is a direction, certainly after the red wine the white wine doesn't taste, but if some costumers wants it, it is given You with much perplexity. I hope you come visit us... More

After a week in Rome, we visited this area expecially for the wine country experience. My wife had read about this winery in Rick Steve's guide, so after walking around town (be sure to climb the tower), we made our way to this winery, which has an unassuming entry off a side street. We were greated by an older gentleman... More

Thanks for Your reply We are pleased that You enjoyed our winery and our wines and that when You use the corkscrew You remember us. A clarification: the old man who welcomed You , Adamo, is not the owner, but our historic winemaker. I hope that You come back soon. More

Drop by for a tasting at Contucci Cantine as the passion and love for wine and wine making really makes you appreciate life and being in Italy. Make sure to give the owner a huge hug as he loves wine, people, and sharing his gift with visitors. Worth a drop-in and a walk-through of the cellar.

A friendly and welcoming visit to one of the oldest families in Montepulciano. The Contucci family have actually lived here since the 11th century! We got to taste some excellent Contucci red wine before touring the cellars on our own. Information available in english and wine tasting is for free - but be wise and bring some of this outstanding... More

This was a wonderful surprise on a hot day! The cellars are cool both literally and figuratively! The wines we tasted were superb and we bought some bottles. Don't miss this location at the Grand Piazza! http://www.anamericaninitaly.com/2014/07/24/cantucci-palazzo-and-cantina/

Thank You for Your review. We are pleased that You have enjoyed in our cellars and that You enjoyed our wines. The winery is definitely cool as well as very charming and beautiful, it was built in the thirteenth century, so the walls are very thick. I hope You can come back soon to visit us More

We had a great, albeit short, wine tasting at Contucci. Our guide was sweet, funny, and personable as she explained the wines clearly, chatted with us about our travel plans, and gave us some insight about Tuscany in general, as well as Florence and Siena. A really nice stop in a gorgeous city.

The self-guided tour of the wine cellars is very good, but could use some signs with descriptions. The woman in the tasting room was very friendly, really loved the wines, and we were glad to take home some of the best.
