The city served as a good base for day trips to Florence, Pisa, et al. The hotel's penthouse restaurant was about perfect in all respects. The area was safe and a pleasant location to stroll in the area.

Great views, lovely piazza at summit with quirky shops, bars and restaurants. Funicular operates every half hour right up to midnight. 7 euros return for approx 8 minute ride.

This is like going back in time, lovely little train chugs up to Montecatini Alto with lovely restaurants and beautiful views.

An interesting journey. From the top there are excellent views. The train runs every 30 minutes. Well worth 7 euros return.
