This was a smooth ride that provided breathtaking views. There were many places to eat al fresco at the top.

100+ yo but going strong. Worth the 7 euro return of anybody,s money. 5 mins to the top. Check out the down path if you think you fancy walking down . Walking boots needed and v steady on the old pins.

Do not miss the experience of riding the cable car to Montecatini Alto. It runs on schedule, with a break mid afternoon. We rode up in the late afternoon and down in the evening, with the moon over Montecatine Terre. Beautiful sights and a smooth, safe ride.

This is a great way to visit Montecatini Alto, a charming village overlooking Montecatini itself. It is the longest funicular I have travelled on. Well worth experiencing!

The best time to go is approaching dusk. The view across the valley as the lights come on is quite spectacular

Get the funicolare from the park (7 euros), for about 15 minutes on the top. Here you can have a beautiful panorama of the Montecatini Terme. There are restaurants, shops and you can walk on the narrow streets of the old city.

It leads to the old village perched on the mountain. The pizza restaurant has a great terrace overlooking the hills (you have to walk through to the back). We walked off our meal by taking the footpath back instead of the funicular. Nothing to dislike.

Quaint cablecar. Runs every half hour (but not between 1300-1430) Only 4 euros for a one way trip. Great views of the hills and down into Montecatini Terme
