Whilst staying nearby be went on here to get up the mountain. It was very interesting and great view on the way up or down. A real piece of working history

Nice Experience but expensive! 7 € Return is too much to get a ride on one of the oldest cable way in Italy, its name is Gigio and it is very typical! It takes just a few minutes to get to Montecatini alto, if you want something less expensive there is a bus as well.

Luckily we were here over New Year and the funicolare had opened for a few festive days. Jan 2016 7 euro's return. There is a bit of a walk from the centre of Montecatini Terme, but well signposted. The station and cable car date back to earlier times, and there was a short queue - just be aware a lot... More

A small tramp made for this particular hill brings you to the real old Montecatini. Your trip is short but with spectacular views over the valley in which Montecatini Terme is situated. The small town at the hill top is well worth a visit with many beautifull small and different houses, cafes, restaurants and churces. And you don't need to... More

The Funicolarre ride is a pleasant way to get to Montecatini Alto. Views are great and it is much easier than hiking up.

Comfortable ride with amazing views in all directions. Funicolare takes you to Montecatini Alto (the original Montecatini settlement, lying a few hundred metres above the 'new' town). Montecatini Alto is a characteristic medieval village, historical attraction. Recommend it, great views, cafes and quaint town to visit.

A vintage cable car (Funicolare) takes you to Montecatini Alto. A slow ride up, but what an amazing view you get. So glad I had the opportunity to do this.

We took this trip early one morning on a recent trip to Montecatini. It looked fairly harmless as we sat into our seats but my goodness it's a short journey but what a climb!!! The views are amazing, I wouldn't have missed this for the world. The carriages are beautiful and well maintained.

We rode the funicular (Funicolare is the Italian spelling) up to Montecatini Alto to eat dinner. It only leaves at certain times, so you may have to wait a few minutes (up to 20) before riding up to the top. You pay for your ticket once you get to the top, and once you leave the station, go left (not... More
