Montecatini is in two parts - the lower part which is a traffic jam and the older part much higher up which has some fine old structures. More

we loved the spa. the massages were more personal than those in the states. Lack of clothing was a surprise, sometimes a tiny paper g-string was offered. This is not for the modest though I would think you could ask to wear your underwear. More

Went to excelsior spa, looks fantastic from the outside, pictures outside of grace kelly and the like visiting. we had facials and massages, was lovely and calm. afterwards they led us to the end of a corridor that had floor to ceiling windows, gave us herbal tea and we sat in amazing massaging chairs drinking our tea and watching the... I understood that the Spa was all about drinking one of the 4 waters, I hadn't realized that in the afternoon, only 1 was available (the others need to be consumed before breakfast).
