Germany's first theme park, is in the countryside just outside Stuttgart....

Germany's first theme park, is in the countryside just outside Stuttgart. Erlebnispark Tripsdrill opened back in 1929. Today, there are 100 attractions for all ages, includingthe new catapult roller coaster "Karacho" which accelerates its vehicles to 100 km/h in a mere 1.6 second. Over time, the park was extended to link up more and more with nature, for this is the major appeal of Tripsdrill. Thus today, more than 100 original attractions are laid out over 77 hectares - including the roller coaster "Mammut", one of the few in Germany of wooden construction, with a height of 30 metres, and the new catapult roller coaster "Karacho" which accelerates its vehicles to 100 km/h in a mere 1.6 seconds. Yet little ones also obtain good value for money in Tripsdrill, as many of the attractions are specially conceived with the younger visitor in mind, for example the new indoor playground "Gaudi-Viertel" in the Village Street. The theme park's slogan is "Schwaben [Swabia] anno 1880". All the attractions are centred on this theme and evoke Swabia's tradition and history. In this respect, Tripsdrill's approach is generally tongue-in-cheek rather than serious - but not without valuable snippets of information for anyone interested: about wine-making - "from the vine to the glass", the Swabian housewife - "1850 wash-house", handicraft and many other curiosities. And, since Tripsdrill's origins lie in gastronomy, a great deal of attention is paid to the quality of the meals. The "Gasthaus zur Altweibermühle" waiter-service restaurant on site is reputed for its excellent regional cuisine and game specialties - entirely home-made to grand-mother's original recipe. In the neighbouring wildlife park (Wildparadies), Arctic wolves, bears and numerous wild animals native to Europe await visitors. It is possible to see them up close on a feeding tour with the game warden. Bald eagles, vultures and owls also feature among the residents of the wildlife park. The falconry proposes a walking tour or a flight demonstration in the afternoon. In open-air enclosures, visitors can approach several species of deer and even feed them. For those seeking to experience nature with all their senses, there are the forest adventure path (Walderlebnis-Pfad), barefoot path (Barfuß-Pfad) and adventure playground (Abenteuerspielplatz) to have a good romp. With its original accommodation facilities, Tripsdrill enables to extend this adventure amidst pure nature. In the nature resort, located in front of the wildlife park, there are comfortable shepherds' wagons, and tree houses hidden in the forest. The shepherds' wagons can accommodate up to five people. Each one offers a small sitting area with flat-screen TV, a refrigerator, washing facilities and heating. Showers and WCs are available in a modern central sanitation block. The tree-houses for 2-4 and 5-6 people are comfortably equipped, each with its own sanitation, a sink, a refrigerator and a coffee machine, as well as a living room with TV. From the veranda, it is possible to hear the wolves howling in the evening - an exhilarating experience!

If you are heading to Tripsdrill, and you need somewhere nearby to stay over, then book into one of the treehouses at the neighbouring Paradies Park. Although not technically in the trees, the houses are full of charm and character. They are built on stilts, nestling in a pine forest, and are an excellent choice for families. Everything is made... Last weekend we decided to visit Tripsdrill for our first time and we really loved it. Great atmosphere and a nicely arranged park. You have a big variety of different rides and you can also take the small ones on rides, which are normally not allowed in other parks. The park itself offers a full day family entertainment. You also... More

What a great adventure park. There are so many rides compared to the amount of visitors. We went there on a sunday in the summer holidays and still did not have to wait for more than 5 minutes at the rollercoaster or more than 20 minutes at the log flume. The waiting times are beautifully filled with funny and/or learning... More

Available for all ages, highlight of my trip, and although some rides are extremely boring or childish, there are quite a few that can keep you playing all day! I had a great time. But remember to bring a lot of water!

We visited the park recently. It is overall ok but price quality less attractive than the Spieleland or Legoland in Germany. Many rides are somewhat similar and there is lack of management. At one ride called Müllbach Fahrt, the operater does not understand what says clearly on the map in terms of instructions and it is really a shame for... More

We are sorry, that it came to misunderstandings with the operator at the “Mühlbach-Fahrt”. We will forward your remarks – also concerning the “Gaudi-Viertel – to the responsible... More

Most rides are for kids but there are five rides that caught my eye. I played those all day and the environment there is great. The rides can be in a competition with other well-known amusement parks! I loved it. I love the slides and the roller coasters :^)

Germany is a heaven for amusement park. Almost every state has a few cool amusement parks that can rival with your Disneyland or the Six Flags in the states. Each park has its own theme. Every year we take our two boys to a new park. They loved their experience so far in the legoland, ravensburg land, playmobil park. This... More

This park had great food, rides for everyone that attended from 2 years old to teens to adult, and great customer service. We lost a cell phone (while visiting from the US) and the park staff even called us back several days later to let us know they had not been able to locate it and it had not been... More

Due to the chilly weather in early April, we didn't take full advantage of the park by not allowing our three young kids to do any of the rides that would get them wet. However they still had a good time and enjoyed the new indoor play area on the way out. We were unable to find the nature park... More
