My wife and I spent a day with Silvestro and Desi at their cooking school as part of our honeymoon. It was a great way to learn about the food of the region, the local wines and to hear first hand about life in Lecce. You don't have to worry about serving up a gourmet meal at the end of... More

We passed an incredibly full and pleasurable day at the table of Silvestro, the master chef, and host with the most. Our day began with market visits as we purchased fresh ingredients for our cooking lesson and ultimately for our stomachs. There was terrific camaraderie and hospitality from our maestro and fellow cooks. We prepared typical Pugliese dishes -- handmade... More

From the minute I met Silvestro and his staff at The Awaiting Table, I was enchanted. To find myself in this very old walled-city, with its narrow cobbled-stone streets and antiquities, allowed a shift back in time I wasn't expecting. But then, a week of cooking - not just making food, but learning about the culture of the region and... More

For those wanting something different or more extensive in a cooking course, and love to learn to cook and eat or improve their knowledge of Italian cooking, go to this authentic educational cooking experience, in such a delightful setting. I highly recommend you consider the Awaiting Table for a day or week long cooking option. Obviously with a week your... More

Silvestro, Desi and Anna are a generous team who spend both their time and energy to ensure that everyone that attends the Lecce school has the very best of times. The market visits were good fun and educational, the recipes were simple and easy to follow and the food even tasted good at the end. The wine was good and... More

Learn to cook like a local with fresh ingredients from the local markets accompanied by local wines that will amaze in their complexity and flavor. We spent our week at the school in... More

The Awaiting Table's wine course, Terronia was excellent. It was small and intimate with in depth exploration of the wines of Puglia, Basilicata, Sicily and Calabria. Each tasting included 3-4 wines of the region paired with a compatible regional 3-4 course meal. Everything was delicious and lots of fun! Silvestro led us in several pasta making classes (all happily completely... More

We had a great time at the Awaiting Table. We learned quite a bit about the regional food and wine and enjoyed two delicious meals. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

Indeed----my second time attending The Awaiting Table Cookery school. Honestly, I would like to make it a yearly voyage! This time I enjoyed the castle experience---it was terrific---the "real deal". Silvestro is such a talented instructor. You don't just prepare meals, you learn about the history of foods and customs in the area. All that in an informal, family type... More
