Everything in Lecce is worth exploring. It is called the "Florence" of the South with baroque buildings anda myriad of carvings. Small winding alleys with cobbled streets make Tis so attractive. Beautiful flowers everywhere in Spring

Sit and gaze for a while at the madcap selection of life shown on the facade - try as we might we couldn't spot the dodos that our guide book informs us are there.

The Basilica di Santa Croce in Lecce is definitely worth a visit. Of all the churches and cathedrals in Lecce this is the most magnificent. Take a guided tour from the Tourist office if possible, most informative.

Lecce is an ancient city which, during the time of great prosperity from landowner and agriculture constructed baroque churches, palaces and houses. The consequence is that the center is one of the best and largest baroque cities anywhere. Santa Croce, and its square are the best example of Apulia baroque. The construction started in 1520 and lasted 200 years. Six... More

Carved in extraordinary detail using the mellow colored local sandstone. The facade is covered in mythical beasts and figures. This is a must see when in Lecce as is the even grander Duomo.

This is one of the greatest evidence of Baroque art not only in Apulia but even compared to the whole italian heritage. It's something really stunning, unique and worthy; all the historical center is really worth a visit, and this is the most precious piece of this great "portfolio".

Lecce is known as the "Baroque city". This church appears to be the pinnacle of the Lecce Baroque. Even if you don’t like Baroque it is still amazing.

This is certainly the most interesting church in Lecce. We had on top of this the perfect guide that told u a lot of the meanings of the several decorations

This an exquisite cascade one of the most beautiful I've seen. At present though the main part has scaffolding (true of quite a few sights in Italy at present) so the pure majesty of it is a little lost. It's still worth seeing and taking in the magnificent artwork. The basilica is near the amphitheater so is quite easy to... More
