Unbelievable baroque façade, you could spend hours just to discover and enjoy the details. The interior is more sedate, the additions to its well-proportioned structure by the baroque altars I found a bit tiring. A must see in this lovely city.

The basilica is lovely, but if you get a chance return to visit it at night. The buildings are up lit and are quite spectacular. If you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of a wedding as it is a popular place to make photos.

One of the nicest all over Italy. Exterior wall sculptures are very impressive. Dim lighting in the church does not override the decorative beauty.

Beautiful example of the incredible, Baroque style of the city. Unfortunately, the facade is under restoration so obscured somewhat by scaffolding - oh well, it has to be done!

This is one of the many outstanding Baroque churches in Lecce. The facade of this one has many unusual and fanciful creatures. We visited both in the morning and in the late afternoon to note the difference in natural light. Like most everywhere in that region, the church is closed midday. Make sure to adjust your plans accordingly.

The churches in Lecce are renowned for their over-the top architectural decoration, but this one beats the lot. It's got to be seen to be believed. Well worth a special visit.

You must get one of the walking tours from the tourist office to fully appreciate what is going on here. I have docked a point here because it is unfortunately decked out in a lot of scaffolding at the moment.

This Basilica was both beautiful and over the top Baroque. It is not to be missed. This is one of the sites that gives Lecce the title of the Florence of the South.
