This is one of the greatest evidence of Baroque art not only in Apulia but even compared to the whole italian heritage. It's something really stunning, unique and worthy; all the historical center is really worth a visit, and this is the most precious piece of this great "portfolio".

Lecce is known as the "Baroque city". This church appears to be the pinnacle of the Lecce Baroque. Even if you don’t like Baroque it is still amazing.

This is certainly the most interesting church in Lecce. We had on top of this the perfect guide that told u a lot of the meanings of the several decorations

This an exquisite cascade one of the most beautiful I've seen. At present though the main part has scaffolding (true of quite a few sights in Italy at present) so the pure majesty of it is a little lost. It's still worth seeing and taking in the magnificent artwork. The basilica is near the amphitheater so is quite easy to... More

This is an amazing place. The stone carving will leave you gasping...and find some of the stories behind the works. there are guides, and some printed material. some great areas to get a snack or have a drink. as is usual there is always restoration work going on. But what ever you manage to glimpse at is worth it. in... More

The art and internal decoration was very good. Like a lot of the Churches during my stay there was construction going on. this was not visually appealing but did not detract

Was that a baboon we saw? We love churches for their art, and this one was especially entertaining, even partially obscured by scaffolding and netting. Worth a visit!

This is a stunning building from every view. Be advised that to enter you need to be dressed appropriately and respect this is a place of worship.

The carved facade of this huge building is a fantastic site. The sound of singing drew us into the Basilica one evening, when a service was being conducted. The enormous ceiling trusses with colourful painting were delightful. The huge candelabra were lit by LED bulbs which ruined the ambience of this amazing building. An elderly lady lay on the steps... This is a must spot to be visited in Lecce. It will bring you back to the time when people were extremely religious.p
