My husband and I completed almost all of the 9 kilometer walk around Ferrara. Whilst the walk is interesting, some of the wall paths badly need cleaning up and defining and something needs to be done to stop the dogs fouling the paths. Ferrara could look at the way the walls are maintained in Lucca. In Lucca the route is... More

The wall around the medieval centre of Ferrara is virtually intact. It is 9km in length with a superb path around the whole of it. Passing mainly through 'parkland' this makes it ideal for walking or cycling. A map from the tourist office will show its location, but if in doubt head off from the city centre in a straight... We had a lovely day exploring Ferrara and had taken our own bikes to ride around the walls as we had previously done this in Lucca. We found the route quite confusing and not well signposted, some areas the route was very clear but in others it was more difficult especially from the car park and by the station. Take... More

This place is perfect for activity at open air: photo, walking, or if you have a dog you can make nice meeting. It takes around 30 minutes to complete a sector, no coffee places available. Provide with water hot season.

Day trip to Ferrara: our walk took us through time, from the lanes of merchants to Renaissance grandeur of the Este urban vision. From the middle ages to today, the area around the Cattedrale has always been the focus of the city life. The seat of various rulers over the years and a commercial area, it is still a favourite... The famous writer Giorgio Bassani dedicated it a beautiful novella, many Ferrarese prefer it for jogging. It is a very relaxing place, and in a certain point you pass the Jewish cemetery with Bassani's and Gianfranco Rossi' s tombs, among others.

The first thing that stole our hearts in Ferrara was how the ramparts had been transformed from medieval defences into idyllic gardens and bike paths. We rented a pair, so let me suggest a route. Take the Via Baluardi, past the 17th century Porta Romana, along Viale Alfonso d'Este, beside the mount of San Giorgi. Continue farther, descending to Via... More

The very ancient walls around the city are the favourite place of citizens for walking and jogging in the nature. Here you can find people from very early in the morning till dusk.

I can recommend the Old Town of Ferrara. The Renaissance is there on life in this buildings. This Wall is a good Thing to see with some informations about it. When you are in Northern Italy, then you must visit Ferrara.
