A great way to spend a morning or afternoon hiking up to one of the most scenic places in Sicily. The hike up to the top will take you 30 to 45 minutes and it is quite demanding on the body and therefore you should not go up to the top unless you are in reasonable shape. It is advisable... More

I walked up La Rocca, and in addition to the fantastic views of Cefalu and the surrounding areas, there are archeological and castle remains to explore. It's hard work, about a 20-minute ascent, but worth it!

What an amazing walk up to the castle and this ancient historic buildings. I think there would be a lot more history up their that could be discovered.

Don't forget water!! We started our walk at 3:15 pm (on a monday) even though people adviced us to go at 9 am. Mostly because we enjoy spending the first half of the day at the beach. We checked the weather forecast, and we knew it was gonna be cloudy and later be raining, so we took a chance at... More

Spectacular views over Cefalu, but don't try and get in before 09.00. Walking from the old town turn off the main Corso Ruggero onto Salita Saraceni and this takes you up to the entrance office. Don't go past the entrance if no one is there. If you do climb on without paying you will come to a locked gate and... More

Get up early and make the trek to the top of this hill overlooking Cefalu. It is a climb and whilst you may be fooled by the easy well laid out paths at the bottom, it really is a trek up often slippery dirt and shingle tracks to the top. But once there the views are spectacular. Sensible walking shoes,... More

Get your walking shoes on, fill a water bottle, set aside 2 - 3 hours and prepare yourself for some of the most amazing views on the northern coast of Sicily. La Rocca is a fortified 270 metre rock that kept the people of Cefalu safe for many centuries. It's not a particularly difficult walk to the castle ruins at... More

Walked past the sign pointing for The Rock, so decided to do an impromptu hike. Probably not the best idea since I'm blessed with Irish white skin and I wasn't wearing any suncream (I only meant to pop out to the shop and back). However, it was grand, there are loads of shaded spots along the way up. I just... More

After a little difficultly trying to find the start of 'la rocca' we managed to get started, for those who tire easily the first part of la rocca is well designed with wide steps. At this point you can go higher again, there's a small ruined church actually on the mountain, but more importantly the view from the top on... More

Just be sure to check the timetabe and bring plenty of water! The opening hours i think was 9am to 7pm. And it cost €4. (Nothing is free..) The trip to the top does not take very long, but when it is boiling hot it is actually a little hard, or you could say, it´s a good way to break... More
