Well preserved

I was amazed by how well preserved it is. People's houses are right next it which is very strage...to have the house next to such an old monument.

Amazing it's survived so long.......given how many times the city has been fought over in the lifetime of this monument it's great to see it such good condition. It was built in about 1116! It's well lit in the evening

The arch is beautiful and the detail is quite stunning. I went to Benevento specifically to see this and the Roman theatre however both proved to be a bit of a disappointment. The arch is covered in scaffolding which I understand is helping preserve it (which is wonderful) but if you are taking hours to get here it is not... More

One of the best preserved Roman structured I have ever seen, the Arch of Trajan depicts the triumphs of the famous Roman Emperor who pacified Germania and brought Dacia into the Empire. It is not to be missed if you are a history buff!. In the heart of the old centre of Benevento, the arch is a great starting point... More

The arch is an excellent representation of a commemorative arch. The sculpture is still in excellent shape. The only current problem is that it is surrounded by scaffolding and you cannot walk through the center.

It is next to a shopper friendly street called Corso Garibaldi. The street and area near Arco di Traiano are decorated with lights close to Christmas. Lots of people mill around shopping in the flea market near the Arco di Traiano on Saturday evening.

Given its age and the detail that is still visible it is worth the walk but only if you are in town. Benevento has generous public parking areas near downtown you can see more than the Arch. Benevento is a very pleasant town to walk around in.

Quite an impressive structure with extremely well preserved carvings of the main characters representing Traiano's era. The statues almost seem alive, they are so well crafted. During our visit (end of September 2014) the site was surrounded by a protective fence as parts of the structure is being renovated so it was not possible to get right next to the... More
