The first time we walked into the outdoor seating area here (and it IS a lovely and historic place right on the Pza del Popolo), there was no one seated at any table so we asked the waiter if they were open. His answer was weird - he said cosi, cosi, meaning maybe. Huh? We sat down anyway and ordered... More

The atmosphere in this place is wonderful. It feels like it's been there forever. The anise flavored gelato is excellent. They sell a delicious anise flavored liqueur and biscotti.

We came here twice while we were staying in the area and after we'd wandered round the town. It is a beautiful interior, well worth the visit. But the local wine and nibbles we had were fantastic. And the service is cheerful and elegant. In fact, it is an elegant and deeply comfortable bar! Really recommend it for a lovely... More

Words cannot describe our disappointment with Meletti. We are very familiar with Ascoli and regularly visit here. We've dined at Meletti in the past. It is promoted as a significant venue in Ascoli. Historically that may be the case, however in our opinion it has nothing else going for it. We regularly encounter rude waiters and unexplained high bills. We've... More

The cafe opened in 1904 and still has period decor. However, in nice weather one must sit outside and enjoy the Piazza which is very lovely. Be sure to try the traditional fried olives stuffed with meat which are delicious.

Ok go for your one drink to say you drank where Hemingway drank...but that's about it. Drinks were super overpriced and waiters have attitude. We walked in looked to be seated and we were ignored, so we ordered from the bar. When we saw a table open up we asked to sit (and of course we paid the premium to... More

it is a historical cafe right in the middle of the town in Piazza del Popolo. The interior is carefully maintained close to the original set-up. Therefore it makes quite an impression. Specific to the place is the Anisetta - an anise based alcoholic drink that works well with coffee. The service might not seem overly polite and it is... More
